Okay, what do you know today that you wished you knew when you started myLot? I have found that the best place to get good advice is from someone who is successful and successful people are not threatened by newcomers. Thank you in advance for your insight and help.

Threatened by newcomers??? We NEED the newcomers because they will we hope bring us a breath of fresh air Welcome to myLot! The only thing that I know is that I should have given MUCH more importance to the Terms, FAQs and Guidelines here when I joined. I would have wasted much less time and had many less posts deleted and... well we won't go into that here This link contains all that you need to know. The rest will become obvious by travelling around the discussions and seeing how others do things. Oh you must realise that you earn for what YOU type. If you start a discussion and others respond, they will earn, not you, for what they type. You can earn by commenting back to them. Have fun and take your time to read here: : http://www.mylot.com/o/mylot.aspx

Ah sage advice...read the information provided by the site. I guess I was looking for a short cut but nothing beats reading the instructions. Thanks!

Once you read the basics there and realise that there are also FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) too, you can bookmark that link and refer to it when you are in doubt. For more tips and advice almost every day, I suggest you add this link to your interests. When you see the icon on the top of your screen go and take a look and see if there is a discussion which might help you too : http://www.mylot.com/w/lists/7_85090/default.aspx

Wow, someone who is finally willing to listen! Well there is a ton of stuff I would have wanted to know but I will list the basics and you can read the rest on my blog which can be found in my profile. 1. Make friends Treat myLot as a social networking such as Facebook or myspace. Get to know the people before doing anything big. Keep posting, but add a couple of older members and get some tips and advice (like you are doing now). They will become irreplaceable later on. 2. Come for the money, stay for the experience Honestly, I came here for the money, and still come here for the money. But the thing about myLot, is that I cannot leave my computer once I start posting! Sure, it can be hard to get started but once those responses come up, it's hard to stop. 3. Don't worry about referrals Really, don't worry about referrals until you make at least one payout (as proof). Don't rely on them for money either. Just log into myLot as much as possible and once it sticks, you won't need referrals for anything except a couple more friends. 4. Don't be afraid to ask MyLot can penalize you for breaking their guidelines or not following the TOS. If you are unsure, ask a senior member, and I guarantee that 99% of the time, they will help you. Why? Because we wish (or they wish) they had someone to help them and answer questions when they were starting. You can PM your friends, leave comments on profiles, or search myLot for a discussion answering your question. 5. Don't worry about earnings or post count (actually discussion count, but that is beside the point) Counting how many more pennies you earn each day won't make them magically appear. The less concentrated you are on earning, the more focused you get on enjoying myLot, and that is where the real benefits are. Those are my 5 tips for newbies. I will be sure to add them to my blog but there are other tips and how-to guides so hopefully it will be helpfully! Happy new year!

I am a good listener, your tips are excellent especially the one about not worrying about the money. I've already found out this is a lot of fun, talking with people about things that interest me that the money is not the primary reason I am here. This is a great place to talk to a wide variety of people, far different than what I usually encounter in my daily life.

I signed up for mylot, with little expectation. However, I learnt a lot, such as writing articles for Helium, Associated Content, and Bukisa. Plus selling articles at Dailyarticle. Later on, I learnt about blogging and now I have two blogs. In a sense, mylot provided the platform for learning about making money online.

Well, I'm not nearly as much of a veteran here as the other responders have been so far, but I think that I've got enough experience to be able to help you out. The first thing that you need to do to be successful mylotting is to make sure that you ready both the frequently asked questions and the guidelines for the site. These will help you out tremendously in the long run. Another thing that you need to do is to make sure that when you are posting you are posting for quality instead of quantity. Make sure that your responses are related to the topic at hand and make sure that they answer the question. Finally, when you start discussions of your own, always try to respond back to the poster, this is the thing that makes mylot discussions. Hope I've been able to help you.

Hi bounce58, It's already been a lot of fun and I haven't made any money yet, that I know of anyway. I love talking to people and sharing ideas so I think this will be a good match for me.
