Whats the funniest excuse you have used or heard for being late?

I was chatting to a friend at work today about excuses we had used for bieng late or not turning up at an appointment. It all started because his mobile phone rang in the office and it was a girl he had recently met and he was meant to be picking her up. He told her he was on his way and that he was stuck in traffic, just at that moment the office phone rang and foiled his little lie!! Its safe to say she didnt ask him out again! ha ha

Actually the other night me and my husband were at Barnes and Noble, and I heard a good one. The table beside us had about 3 men/boys sitting there having good laughs. One of the phones rang and the youngest of them jumped up to answer. He told the caller that he was stuck in traffic and was just passing Barnes and Noble and should be there soon. Me and my husband both had to suppress laughter.
Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.
