Are you a person that does a lot of multitasking? What are the things that you will find that you are multitasking with? For me, I know that I am the kind of person that has always done a lot of multitasking. I will be playing an online video game and when I am holding a piece in my game I will be on mylot posting to various different discussions here. Also, when I am watching television, I will always have paper and a pen with me and I will write during the commercial breaks. Please share your views with me.

I am not the type of person to multitask. I've tried that a few times before and it just confused the hell outta me! I always end up focusing on one task instead. I don't wanna do it anymore as much as possible 'coz it's not healthy. I've also read that multitasking does make you LESS productive than when you do tasks one at a time.

I sometimes think that life would be easier if I was the kind of person that could not multitask, but it is something that I learned from my parents and something that I've done for as long as I can remember so I'm afraid that it is a habit that I will never be able to break.

Good for you! There are really people who could do well with multitasking. Unfortunately I am not one of them. :D

cooking! since my in-laws would always want at least 3 recipes on the table, i cook each and every menu all at the same time. not to mention, i wash some utensils when needed. there are helpers but everytime i start cooking, i let them watch over my kids so i can concentrate more. and its fun! happy new year dorannmwin

the good thing about multitasking in cooking is the compliment upon seeing no left overs. even if they dont tell it, you feel the acceptance and every effort exerted during the process is well paid off. good day to you my friend

Happy New Year to you as well drakesuyat. I think cooking is the place that multitasking ultimately comes from for me. I too would try to cook all of the dishes at the same time or else I would spend hours upon hours in the kitchen. Besides that, what other reason can you give for the stove having four or more burners.

I've been trying to avoid multi-tasking, actually, and to focus on doing one thing at a time. It's not going so well: I find that I'm constantly distracted.

I honestly can't imagine what my life would be like if I was to avoid multitasking for even one day. I've been doing it for so long that it has really become a part of my personality.

It is an age thing with me as I am no longer very good at multi tasking. I now finish one job and then start the other. I could write during commercial TV breaks - I do this and jot down things in my diary that i have to do the next day - either personal or at work so I do not forget. But to my horror - dare I say it? I now get a bit flustered when under pressure. This is why my evil boss puts me under pressure hoping that one day I will snap and walk out of the office. But I will not do thi as I so need a job for the next three years

I won't even dare ask how old that you are because that is rude. My mother is still a multi-tasker but it was also the fact that she multitasks that ran her out of her last job. It was an email that didn't properly send that did her in. I do think that she doesn't do as well under pressure as she used to when she was younger though. Besides that, when you get a bit older, you need to have less pressure and stress in your life to be healthy.

Seems that you are another very multitasking person. I'm glad to know that I am not the only person that does a lot of multitasking.

I have always been able to multitask. I can type on here and yet do homework or play a game. I also watch tv and respond to questions posted on here. I have always been able to multitask. I also keep paper handy and jot things down especially when it comes close to our weekly trip grocery shopping (every Saturday is grocery shopping night). It is fun to be able to make money while geting other things done.

I honestly think that my multitasking has gone up since I've been able to make a little bit of money on the computer. My desk is also always quite a mess because I have so many papers laying here and there that I make notes on or just doodle or whatever. I think that we really need to establish a specific day that is grocery shopping because I think as far as that goes it would be more effective to know the specific day that you are going to be doing your shopping.

I do my grocery shopping every Saturday. My husband likes to go with me and since he has Sunday off it is better to go Saturday. I make a list and stick to it. It is easier going shopping one day a week rather than going daily because it helps us stay on budget. I also have learned that planning a menu has helped me also.

I love multitasking I currently work with 3 computers running and doing on things on all three of them. my current one that I am on have 4 tabs open which I am currently working on and replying to as I am typing this one. I have 3 different notepads and have them categorized for whatever it is that I am doing at the time between phone calls.

Wow, you really are gifted at multitasking. I've tried to use two computers at one time before and it really confused me so I just gave up on that one.

There are things I'll do while preparing a meal. And then yes, while online, I might have several projects at once going on, or I'll do exercises as I talk on the phone, or knit while watching tv.

I tried exercising while I was on the phone before, but that didn't work out to well because I was trying to do things that were a bit too high impact and I was getting out of breath so it was difficult to respond to the person that I was talking to.

I have multitask all my life. I'm a person that has to be busy at all times. So while on Mylot I will be doing laundry, watching TV and even playing games online too. I will be checking my emails and doing surveys. I also take a 10 minute break from the computer every 45 minutes or so running around cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming and folding clothes. I need to accomplish alot each and everyday to feel good. Don't get me wrong there are a few times in a year that I just want to curl up with a good book in bed or just watch good lifetime movies all day.

I haven't watched a Lifetime movie in forever, though it does sound like a great prospect right about now. As far as the 10 minute break from the computer ever 45 minutes or so, that is a great thing to remember. I just actually got back to the computer after having to relight the pilot on my hot water heater. I really think we are going to have to give in and get a new hot water heater sooner than later. Thank goodness tax time is coming up soon.

I am also the same with games and mylot. I have at least 2 tabs opened at all times when I am on the computer. And as far as daily life I am one multi tasking mommy. I have heard that you don't get as much done multi tasking as when you stick to one thing and get it done. But I disagree. I get bored doing the same thing for a long time. So like when I am cleaning I go from one thing to another to not get bored. Like do a load of dishes, then sweep, then back to the dishes then organize this, or fold clothes. It is always something, I am constantly on the move.

I am the same way as you are. Yes, this method may not be the most effective, but I do feel happy to be able to see the things that I accomplish. My husband has asked me many times if I have ever been diagnosed with ADD, which I have not, but sometimes I think I need to just go ahead and be diagnosed so that I can have that label.

I'm definitely a multitasker - and big time with 2 little ones now! Even moreso with all the holiday prep in the past week - ahhhh! I will read myLot discussions (sometimes type IF I can) while nursing the baby while trying to get more paper from the art supply cupboard for my older one while switching the DVD that just ended while gulping down some food I just threw together while making sure the cookies in the oven are not burning while . . . while . . . . while . . . it goes on. Hee hee. I've always been a multitasker . . . I get sort of fidgety if I am doing only one thing. I used to watch tv, eat and do my homework - hee hee - it probably started there.

I believe that my habit of multitasking also started when I was in school as well, I think back on when I was a child and I remember multitasking throughout my teenage years as well.

I think that it counts any time that you are doing more than one thing at a time. Happy multitasking. LOL.

At times I have envied those who cannot multitask, things seem so much simplier for them but ultimately I wouldn't trade places with them. The reason I multitask is to keep my mind stimulated I constantly need to learn and experience new things. At one point in my life I realized I had held 5 different jobs for a year and a half, just long enough to learn everything I could and then move on to something new. Now I am an elementary school teacher and every day is full of new experiences.

I think that the reason that I find that I need to multitask is because I may have some slight adult ADD. I seriously cannot keep my mind on one thing for more than ten minutes. Seriously, my attention span is shorter than that of my three-year-old son.

I find myself doing some major multitasking while at home. I will watch TV/movie, play my xbox 360, and play 19 accounts on a MMORTS (massive multi-player online real time strategy) online at the same time...it's getting ridiculous!

That does seem to border on ridiculous. I multitask but I've never taken it to that kind of an extreme.
