Hello, my friends!
After some time of inactivity on myLot (family, personal causes) , I decided to put down a new discussion. I think it's very popular and interesting activity in Nowadays all over the world. I really want to know, what's your reaction on musicians, that play in the City main streets, tunnels or somewhere else? I'm interested in your answers, because I'm musician. I live in Latvia (Small country near Baltic Sea and Russia). One beautiful, sunny saturday, I and my friend from music school decided to go and play some music for people, because this time is very depressive - Crisis everywhere, troubles with the banks and lot of other sad things, you know...
We are both violinists . We don't wanted to earn cash. We just wanted to make people happier . We played popular things for violins like tangos, songs ... all that casual people like. That was awesome, all people mood changed, city center was full of music, happy faces and open hearts... Now it's cold to play, but in the Spring we will definitely continue to play music, share our smilies and emotions with people!
Thank you for your responses! With best wishes! Happy New YEAR myLOT mates!
P.S Sorry for my bad english!

i usually enjoy them and if i particularly like what they are playing i will hang around for a bit. there are a few (not very many) who clearly have only just started learning how to play their instrument, or cannot sing at all and in their case i tend to speed up. over christmas there was another type that made me increase my speed and these were the brass bands that only surface at this time of year. unfortunately the supermarket i usually go to also had one of these in residence and i would usually finish my shopping with a rather nasty headache. apart from this i think street musicians are a great thing and if this is something you do good on you.

Hi!
Yea, of course it's very important to play good, not just making a strange noises . I'm learning about 12 years. I took a part in lot of competitions. So I respect professional music and musicians

Good for you, I spent some time in the hospital earlier in the year, and a couple of musicians came to the hospital on their own time, and did the same thing. Not because they had to, or even because they particularly knew someone there. Just because they could. It's random acts like this that we all should strive to do more of.

I love street music. I really enjoy listening to music on the streets. This calms my nerves when am tired and stressed up, so I just stop by and listen to the wonderful sweet tunes around. I only have a problem with street musicians who think of cash more than the music they play. It is not bad to take cash, but surely, did you want to take cash or your drive was to play music? Keep it up, it is good.

Hi evans: I completely agree with and actually i don't like these persons that just want the money, like if we are "buying" their music or something like that. I would like to stay a while to hear the good music but at the same time my job is so stresing. In general when i hear street musicians i walk slowly to hear a little bit of the music while i am walking to my work. Thanks for your answer evans. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Take Care.

Hello Abruzzi. I love to hear street musicians. In Alicante, Spain, there's a lovely square in the old town, with several restaurants. We always go there for lunch, because the musicians take it in turns playing and singing around the tables. During the course of our leisurely lunch, we get at least 4 or 5 different performers around the tables, and they're all very good.

Hi abruzzi: first of all- your english is not bad, i think that you have made a great effort to express those things you have said in a languaje that is not yours. Second, i think that i can appreciate music and i admire people that share their talent with their world, in those cases i tried to support them but at the same timee I think that here in my city there are some groups that I think they just do this for money and they have little or no talent and that's different from the thing you are telling with us. Thanks for asking us this question and for sharing your tallent with the rest of the world. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Take Care.

Street musicians are sometimes fun. I remember when I went to New Orleans and there were really good street musicians all over the place. Otherwise most street musicians I've seen are not very good. I never really tip them but then again I never stay to listen too long.

They are actually great musicians. Performing in an open space is more difficult than on a confined one. Every time I bumped into one, I always stop to listen a while and drop something on the hat. And the good thing about it, they are doing a legitimate job rather than staying on the house and do nothing. I salute all the street musicians around the world.

Street musicians are good. They are very talented. Have the courage and perseverance to make themselves be known and give happiness to everybody. It is just how other people view them or react to them.
I have appreciation to musicians. They are extraordinary in skills that they can blend music well and use their senses.
Here in our countries, they are blind and deaf musicians who plays among the streets and have great in singing .
Despite of their being as handicapped. They are still productive and manage to live life the way they can be normal in that way.

Hello, frnd as far as I am concerned ,in our country ,there are quite a large number of street musicians, and what I think from your post is that they have respect there, but here, they are mostly treated as beggar because their most of act is related to just making money.

I love the culture of it, and support it fully. I used to live in Denver, and when I worked on the 16th Street Mall area where there's tons of commerce, entertainment, retail, and clubs, the strip would be lined every day with musicians and performers of all types. Some good, some bad, some amazing, but all much more colorful and engaging than the beggars (I've been homeless before alot, so mean no offense to anyone).
I also partake in it myself when I can. I'm a hip-hop lyricist and poet, and will gladly recite a verse or speak some words of wisdom with a musical air at any opportunity. In hip-hop there's what is called a cypher, where people group together in an area and exchange improvised lyrics, and feed off of each others content, words, and creative energy. Alot of times, someone is beat boxing, or there's live instrumentation, and sometimes it's just acapella... but the energy in it is amazing, and there's no rush to me more than wrecking a cypher so hard that people are crowding around you, not wanting to rap after you, or start to recognize you around town, or come up to try and cypher with you while you're on break because they remember you.
I was younger in those days though.
