neither buy a led one if you can afford one, if you can't the picture quality is usually better on a led and power consumption is generally less in a nut shell, though plasma are usually cheaper then lcd and then the new led which are fab

Actually it's the other way around when comparing LCD vs Plasma. Plasma has the better picture, and is generally more expensive. LED on the other hand is a newer technology and is gaining ground on both other formats

Without getting too technical the difference in LCD and Plasma is mainly in the picture, and the care and maintenance you will need to use in having one. Plasma TV's have a better, and brighter picture when compared to LCD, but are generally more expensive. The difference can be significant on the high end, but if your on a budget, as most people are, the difference is only slight in mid range TV's. Plasma is also harder to take care of because you are advised to not touch the screen as much as possible. So if there are little kids around, plasma is probably not the way to go. Finally, Plasma has a shorter shelf life, and is more likely to go out sooner than LCD. Both have good picture quality, and amenities, depending on the set, but unless the best of the best in clarity is what you have to have, LCD is probably what you should go with.
