I was often waken by caterwaul at night. The cats who waul are all male cats. They do this in order to attract female cats' attention. But their caterwaul is raspy and like a baby weep. It's horror to hear that at night.
What about you my friends? Do you ever hear caterwaul at night?Share your experience with us.

I do hear those somewhat creepy noises at night especially. First time I heard it I thought it was some baby crying out, and I got very surprised to know that the sound came from a cat. Until now I sometimes still mistake them for baby cries. :) But I find them very fascinating. Nature's work. :D

I don't have that problem, all my cats get spayed and neutered before they reach puberty! (LOL) My night noise comes from the coyotes howling at night. I live in the country and it is a nightly occurrence that I finally got used to. There are nights that they are so close that I swear that they are in my back yard.

My cat does this at night and he's in fact a male cat. I don't like hearing it but I'm hoping it will stop whem he gets fixed.

fortunately I've never heard my wife scream / shout like a cat in the middle of the night, except when she was asked "quota"
