How it fanaincially harms you to make online transaction for shopping online by you ATM/Debit Card. And how it harm to share my ATM /Debit card information on internet?

I pay through paypal for the things purchased online. There is no harm in sharing the debit/credit card numbers online, but not the PERAONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER and the passwords related to your debit/credit card transactions...
