Man; use Avast at : http://www.avast.com/ It is all I use and it never lets me down, oh and it's free. Also use a utility program to keep your pc tuned up. Something like Tune Up Utilities. I can't remember what it costs but it is worth it for sure.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus is one of the best antivirus because it takes less space and memory while scanning. It has both antivirus and antispyware protection.

I have Kspersky and I am very secure with it. It cost around Rs. 600/- and now Rs 400/- per year. Every time we download any site it scans it and so we do not have to worry at all.
