Hey oindy! I received this same email and knew immediately that
it was a SCAM! I deleted it immediately and then went to my
PayPal account and there was absolutely no problem! Companies
like PayPal just don't send letters like this. I must admit
this letter started off pretty well! It did get my attention
for a minute! But, it just went too far! I have seen too many
SCAM letters to know that this one was just another one trying
to get personal information! We all have to be very careful
and make sure we don't let these hackers win!

You have done something wrong with your paypal account. So, paypal have limited your account. Now you can only login and update your profile. If you want to send or receive money, you need to verify your account. To verify your papal account you need a credit card. Link a credit card and enjoy the features of a verified user.

I am sure you did not fall into the trap. That's life online. We must always be alert and conscious of what is happening around us. Never entrust anyone with your pins and passwords. I am sure there are many spies lurking around scouting for some loot. A proper body will not check one's account and ask for online verification.

You mean that the email address where you received is not your Paypal email id?Then I think this email is suspicious. Why the hell will Paypal send an email to your alternate email address.I would suggest you to contact Paypal immediately and ask them about this email first.

The email you received was not really from Paypal, it was a scam. Paypal would never ask you for your credit card information or any personal information. I would send a copy of this email to paypal so they will be aware of thew situation.

If the email is not addressed to you by name, and that goes for any financial institution or store (like ebay), then it is fake. I forward almost every email that comes from "paypal" to spoof@paypal.com with a note saying that I am forwarding fraudulent email for their investigation. I want these scammers gone and the only way we can stop this is to report them. Don't just delete these emails. Forward them to the proper security system. Ebay has one, paypal has one and my own banking institution has one. They WANT you to report them so they can stop this nonsense.

Ho oindy: Definitely a fake mail. They are simply trying to get your billing information. Don't do a thing except report to Paypal. I think this is called "phishing" I received a similar mail from Yahoo yestrday stating that if I dont submit my Yahoo information such as password etc, my account will be terminated within 48 hours. I reported it to Yahoo security Center awaiting their reply. I suppose a lot of this type of thing is going around these days so you have to be very careful. Don't worry too much oindy, paypal will sort out things for you soon enough. Good Luck to you in 2010.

I would log into your paypal account and give them a copy of what has been said and asked of you from paypal administrator through paypal account.... That is nothing about a month ago paypal supposedly sent me a e-mail to confirm $1500 to be taken out of my account for someone I did not know ..... I logged in and sent a e-mail to the administrator with the information sent to me of the scam and also called them to verify they received my e-mail.... I will tell you that over the phone that paypal was very nice and informative and helped me with this situation and said for security reasons they would never even if I request will not let $500 go out of my account without a phone call from me.... that is what we decided to do.....

Ok, this is bad, but not unsolvable. Go into your paypal account, change your email address and password. You have that option. After you have done this. send paypal an email and bring this matter under there attention, that you have changed your details. But please, make sure paypal know the reasons you have changed your details. Hope this is helpfull.

First, I believe this site (paypal) not a phising or other fraudulence. It's a same case with mine and my friend. Our account labeled "Limited". We try to follow all instruction overthere. step 1-2 cleared successfully, and the last wizzard I have to input Credit Card Account. When try to resolve the last wizzard, it couldn't continue working as step 1 to 2. When nothing could we do, my friend contact them (paypal) and the answer is: send personal identity (copy) & credit card account (copy). As we live in the regeion that credit card not accepted in internet transancion ( why ?)we can do nothing. Our paypal verification work with Virtual CC only. Can you copy a VCC? nothing to do anymore.
My Paypal account linked to my "Paypal Wishlist" on facebook with $100 credit. my friend's too.
One lesson for me: Before using Paypal as electronic payment, I have to verify paypal account. Do it before make any transaction.

Yes, your are right. That is Phishing attempt! Wikipedia has a good article about Phishing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phising
PayPal never would shut your account down just by emailing. Plus they would have your name in the email. They are trying to get your credit card info, don't give it.
Happy New Year, and happy myLotting!

I get emails like this a lot from different places. If you notice the email address isnt even paypal it says ipaypal. Second look to see who all the email was sent to. If it says undisclosed recipients then you pretty much know its a scam. I have gotten emails from banks saying i need to verify my information and i dont even have a bank account with anyone. It is so sad that some people just sit around thinking of new ways to scam people for money.

hi oindy,
That sounds creepy! I think the best thing to do is to personally contact paypal regarding the said matter and verify if the said letter was valid and came from them. You can also send them an email and inform them about your concerns. Attach the email you got for them to verify it. Don't give any information via email. Hope you will get some results as soon as possible.

This is definitely a scam and someone is just trying to get your information, Paypal would contact you directly if you had an issue with your account. Don't give the person who e-mailed you anything! Their probably trying to steal your identity and take your money. Be careful, there's a lot of things you can easily fall for on the Internet now a days. I'd contact Paypal directly and let them know about this anyways

Hi oindy. Wishing u a very happy new year.
Paypal will send u e-mail.
But they will not ask any card number after u registered first time.
If the link in the e-mail asked any of this number then surely it is a "Phishing site".
Don't give any number or password in the link provided with that e-mail.
U can get more details at paypal site about phishing.
BE-AWARE friend

Hi,
The mail was a spam.I guess you never get a mail from service@ipaypal.com.I did receive mails from paypal after my account creation. They have something else. They say, service@intl.paypal.com. So dont worry and just complaint.Apart from sending to spoof@paypal.com, its better you lodge a complaint with your local cyberpolice as this is related to money.
Thanks
