Mary Christmas

I was watching the news last night and saw where a couple in Virginia were new parents. The baby was delivered Monday night and the parents named her Mary. It made national news because the baby's last name is Christmas. They said it's a family tradition, that an aunt and grandmother also have the name of "Mary Christmas". So, what do you think of her name? Would you give your child a name that would obviously make her stand out from others? Kinda reminds me of the Lear family (of Lear jet fame) - they named their daughter Chanda (Lear).

I guess it's not right to tamper with other family's tradition. But I would think it's kinda odd. She could have some trouble with it later. But then on the other hand, it's not thier fault that their last name is Christmas either!! Don't know how I would deal with it. There are several last names that could be used tongue in cheek: Candie Cane!

I guess it could be a lot worse too. Some of these celebrities are naming their kids some really odd names, I just dont get that at all. I'm not saying everyone should be a Tom Smith or Amy Jones, but Apple? Denim? Reignbough? Poor kids!

I think is is funny that Mr and Mrs Christmas named their baby daughter Mary. So her name is Mary Christmas. That sounds similar to 'Merry Christmas' I think. I imagine that the little girl will have some comments about her name. I can see that it was a family tradition to name some females Mary Christmas. If she rings up to book a ticket before Christmas the booking clerk will think she is joking when she says her name.

Yeah, that is one of my thoughts, she will have a lot of people who might think she is pulling their leg when she tells them her name! lol I just hope she has a good sense of humor as she gets older.
