Have you ever gone polar-bearing?

"Polar-bearing" refers to jumping in icy water (a lake or river or something) in the dead of winter. I have never done it, and don't plan on doing it ever! w

Meh.. I have lived in Southern California my whole life.. I would love to go somewhere cold, even if it's to jump into icy cold water?! O.o

I've never, ever done such a thing as "polar-bearing," nor do I ever intend or plan to if I'm honest I'm not a massive fan of water to begin with, especially cold water. I don't know why ANYBODY in their right mind would want to leap into a nearly sub-zero temperature body of water and put themselves through such self-punishment

No thanks! I can go running or walking in cold water, but to jump in freezing cold water is another think altogether. I'd be afraid that my heart would stop beating from the shock!

Here, they call it the "Polar Jump" and it's usually to benefit a good cause.. There's one about 20 miles from my house going on this weekend. It's nice to hear that so many people are doing this..But I don't understand how it's physically GOOD for you to do this. I mean, how good is it to jump in below-freezing water, I'm assuming wearing nothing but a bathing suit? I couldn't do it. I'd rather just donate some money to Make-a-Wish than jeapordize my health!

Given how cold it tends to get in these parts, it was the last thing I would ever do. The water can get really cold around here and the people who do it...well good for them. I would never do it. It just seems like an absurd thing for me to do.

I wouldnt like to do it. Like you I hate the cold! I hate anything that even makes me think of cold. I used to live in Portugal and now I am living in England when I first moved over here I wore 4 pairs of trousers and 6-8 jumpers and that was in the summer hahaha! I would do it for charity but not for fun!
