Life never stops around here

If nothing exciting happened we wouldn't know why we should get up in the morning, now that our big rescue is under control we have a new family moving in, they have lost their job and their home so they are coming here for a few months, when this happens it's a big help because there is always more work then we can do. They work and we feed and house them. It's a big adjustment because the kids have to change schools but we try to make that as easy as it can be, we have rural bus service here. When people come like this we don't consider it charity we call it help and hope that both parties are happy with the results. It doesn't always work out, usually people that come have been so traumatized by what has happened to them that it takes awhile for the healing that comes from this place on earth to work. I just hope that they can stay long enough for it to work. Thus starts the new year

Hi Savypat, What a cool thing you are doing to help people! Do tell us more! Are you doing this on your own right out of your home? You must meet some very interesting people. You sound like a very kindhearted person, Savy.

I meet a lot of people with problems and it really isn't often the I get to help, when it happens it just seems to fall into place. Our ranch really does seem to be a healing place for man and beast. We do encourage this, and do what we can.

They have not come yet, but say they will in February. As with all things in life they change and it usually works out so we will see. Of course the best thing would be if they could get on their feet and not come except to visit. It's in the Lord's hands as always. Thanks

I am sure all good things will come to you pat because you do so much good for the animals and the humans. It is a great thing to give a family who needs it break and what a great experience for them! Two years ago we volunteered to house a Japanese student for the summer but someone got in before us! It was a shame because it would have been interesting but surely not as rewarding as helping other like you do. Good on you, the world needs more people like you and your husband...

My Granddaughter got to go as an exchange student for a Summer session to central America, she really learned a lot and I think it was one of the best memories she has of her high school years. These exchange programs help a lot to bring the world together.

This a wonderful story. Are you a one-off, or part of an organisation. There must be hundreds or thousands of families in trouble at the moment. Whatever, it's an amazing thing you are doing, and being there to work must make it feel better for the family than just accepting charity. I do hope it works out.

It's just the three of us here on the ranch and with so many in need this is just a little drop in the bucket. Each of us should look around and see what we can do to help, even a smile can brighten someone's day.

That is a wonderful thing you are doing! So many people just turn their heads and walk away from the problems of the world. You are a very kind person. I have known others that have done this for people and youre right sometimes life has just been so hard on them that living in a "normal family" household can be a real challenge for them. I hope this all works out for you and this other family. My family im sure always thought... oh it cant happen to us ....but it did by ways of a disaster. You just dont know how fortunate you are ... one day you have everything..you own your own home its paid for..you have enough food to eat.. you have clean dry clothing.. and all the luxturies ipods, tv, game systems, nice vehicles, internet, cable, 4wheelers, boat, everything youve worked half your life to get and the NEXT day you have nothing its all washed away and your thrown into homelessness and a sea of endless FEMA paperwork! Ive learned to never judge because that could be you the next day!

This is right all of us or anyway most of us are only a few steps away from being bag ladies or gentlemen. We have both lived long enough to know it could happen to us. So what we do when we can is very necessary and we hope makes a difference.

Hi I liked your words, i quote 'we dont consider it charity, we call it as help'.That was very nice of you and thats very true.We are all here to help each other. But in the current world we need to be magnanimous at heart to help people as all are into the world of earning.

When money becomes short, barter can take it's place, this is what we are doing. It's really not to unusual for country people to do this.

I guess I didn't express myself well in this discussion, the point was that if you have needs and are willing to look outside the box help is there. Thanks

Wow pat! Never seems to be a dull moment in your life! I do commend you for taking on such a wonderful and charitable jesture as taking in an entire family. I know that you need the help with the farm and all, but it takes a very special type of person to do something like this. I do hope that it all works out for everyone involved~ May you have a wonderful and very blessed New Year!

One must always look upon such occasions with humility, we need help, they need help and with grace it will turn out well.

What a wonderful thing you are doing,it must be very satifying to help people in such a way.Our home is so small we have just about enough space for us,but if you have a larger home it must be very nice to share it.These people could be you for the grace of god go high.I wish you a very happy new year.

It isn't so much satisfying as thankful, just when things start to look like we cannot handle them anymore someone shows up.

Wow savypat..I had no idea that you helped people like that. I knew you took in a lot of animals but I guess I haven't been sround long enough to hear about you housing people. How long have you and your husband been taking in people with hardships? What wonderful people you and your husband are. I feel honored to have met you savypat.

We are not so wonderful and many of our experiences were wild, but even if we never hear about it maybe we were there to make a difference. These people had a need and it matched our need so we wish for the best.

If we stop and think about all the heart breaking news we never get anywhere, no matter how much we try there is always heartbreak in the world. What we do is just to throw some positive energy into the mix and hope it helps. All can do this, just a smile to a stranger or a polite thank you can start the chain.
