What Do You Do With Your Magazines After You've Read Them?

Hubby and I don't like throwing our our read magazines, so we put them in a bag on the front door, and when the bag is full, I take them to the local cafe, and leave them in the magazine racks. We have subscriptions to a lot of magazines, and they are still relatively current when we bring them in, so the face owner and other customers are very happy.

You could take them to your local library. In one of the places I lived they had a "free box" that they put them in. They didn't have any magazines that I liked, but I thought it was an excellent idea.

That is much like the reuse area at our "transfer station" recycling area.

I haven't been able to get rid of any of my horse magazines yet so they keep piling up here. I guess eventually I will have to get rid of them but I can't stand the thought! Other magazines I am okay with getting rid of. Sometimes we take them to the library where they sell them to buy more books and magazines. Sometimes we give them to people we know who want to read them. There are times that we do throw them away though that is mostly magazines that the kids have "accidentally" destroyed somehow or one that was full of coupons and we remove them all. But basically we do try to recycle them.

Maybe you can lay them out on the table before putting your dinner on it... you can throw your bones there or whatever.

Hi danishcanadian, I don't usually buy magazines so this is not really an issue for me. Otherwise, when I do get magazines, whether free or somehow, I just slot them in between the papers to sell to the rag and bone man unless there is something I need or want to keep from there. Cheers!

Normally I discard them. I have learnt that the magazines will ultimately land itself in the trash bin even if I "keep" it nicely in the cupboard. Instead of making the extra effort to clear the cupboard, I rather get rid of it after it has served its purpose. Due to this, I no longer buy magazines. I borrow them and in the end, the magazines get returned back to where it belong to.

You have a good habit. I don't want to waste, too. I will collect the magazines and newspaper that we read, and then sell them. So at least they can be recycled to do something else. I love China

I usually keep my magazines in a drawer so that if I need something to read, I know where to look for it. I have to admit that I do need to read a magazine to do my business. lol. You know what I mean. This is kind of an embarrassing thing to admit but I know a lot of people do that also. lol.

I don't normally buy magazines. When I do, I normally just throw them out. However, I like what you do. That's a great thing! Maybe I will start doing that.

After I read the magazines, I will give it to my neighbour. She then gives it to her servant maid, as the maid is interested in cutting some pages of rangoli and cookery from that book. My neighbour in turn gives me one ladies magazine and I will give it back to her.

depends on what type they are. some i give to the doc's for the reception area..some get recycled. the school up the street occasionally asks for them for craft projects with the kids.i guess they do photo collages.

I think is a very good idea to bring them to the cafe. I usually take my magazines to nursing homes and clinics.

I don't usually get rid of them. I only subscribe to scrapping and stamping mags...so I keep them for the ideas. If I do get rid of them my sister and I swap so they get alot of mileage.

I sold my Cosmopolitan magazines for lower price when I change address. I can't bring/carry all of them since I have to travel by a passenger ship. I didn't have the difficulty in selling my magazines since most of them are still new and in good condition. I kept my favorite with Sandra Bullock's cover.

I have really cut back on magazines. I make a point of reading them at the library. I donate any I have either to the Day Services program or through the recycle area at the transfer station.

After reading a magazine, generally recycle it or keep it if there's an article worth reviewing. Many magazines will be tossed simply because the articles are intended to be read once or twice, but if there's something worth keeping, there are times when it's best to cut the article out and keep it while recycling the remainder of the magazine.

hi danish, I don't subscribe to magazines but my daughter does. After she is done reading them, she passes them on to me and I pass them on to friends who look forward to them. Sometimes I will drop them off at the clinic or laundry mat or other places where magazines are displayed for customers to read while waiting. They are costly and it is a shame to throw them away after only one person has read them.

For me, I usually pull out what I want to keep & either toss the magazine or give it to a friend to read...I don't buy that many magazines but that's what I usually do.

If it's something such as "Mother Earth News," I keep it since I know that I will want to refer back to it in the future. Passing magazines on to friends (either to read or to use in collages), collaging, donating them to a library, giving them to a local school for art class, or giving them to your doctor or dentist's office are all some ideas.
