Do You Have Wireless Internet AT Home?

How do you like it?
my husband canceled our cable internet (we still have cable TV!) in favour of wireless, through the other company. I have a built in modem in my laptop, and he's going to have something installed on his PC. We'll get it all in about a week or so.
Has anyone else gone this route? How do you like it? Any bugs we should know about?

I am using broadband on mobile. I never like wireless as i find it unstable. The connection always get lost. Besides, unless the wireless is secured, it is easy for people to get a free ride. My suggestion is to reset the router password and secure your wireless connection.

Yea, you tend to keep getting disconnected "for no reasons" always!

That sounds like what we do, my son is the expert. Once in awhile the computers will find that they cannot find the server. When that happens you just flip a switch on the modem and leave it off thirty seconds or so. It then resets and is fine.

Yeah, I hate that a lot. It always happen to me, but I guess I can't help if I don't want to crouch down on the kitchen floor typing on the internet as that is the only thing I can do if I make my computer network internet thing NOT wireless.
Rather annoying, but there you go. :(

Yes I have one.I bought it for my laptop. It is good and speedier. But a little expensive.I keep my desktop on with the always on browsing facility and get the signal from my desktop to my laptop through a wireless device to save spending on the wireless pen drive I bought for my laptop.

Hi danishcanadian,
Yea I have wireless internet at home and one computer is on it.
The computing experience is horrrrrrrible.
I strongly suggest that where possible, you use a LAN line wired directly from your modem/router to your computer terminal.

Yes, I do, and I am using it now. :) It's all over the house, but the only bad thing is that my internet keeps stuffing up and stuff, so I don't like it very much at all.... :( No bugs, as far as I know though.
I think wireless is the way to go in the development of the internet. Perhaps we can have internet everywhere in the world soon. :)

We get internet through ADSL modem supplied by our land line service provider. Recently I have applied for wireless modem. It is out of stock. I do not know when I will get it. But some friends in Mylot have responded to my discussion on wireless modem that the connection will be slow in wireless modem. I will know only after getting it.

Hi danish..yes we have and that's what I am using it since the very first time I had my computer and the service is doing well so far...the only problem I encountered having this kind of internet connection would be during bad weather or stormy days. Aside from this I think no problem at all...
Thanks...

I don't have it, but my daughter has it on her computer. She doesn't like it much because you have to move around sometimes to get a good signal with the connection she has. She also had it on her laptop and the signal would be a bit weak at times.

Sorry, but I don't have wireless internet connection. It's very expensive in Indonesia, my country. I use HDPA Internet Connection. It's very slow. I want to change it, but the problem is the cost! I hope someday I can change it to better internet connection. How about Wireless internet connection? Do you like it? Is it fast or not? Happy MyLotting!

My laptop comes wireless. I love it. No cables to connect to my computer for internet and I can take it to any room in my home. Plus I can take it outside. I love it! When you get wireless you will love it!

We don't have wireless here. I am interested in it but have no clue how to go about all that or if my old computer is even capable of handling it. I will have to keep up with your discussion to see how it works for you.

I am not really sure if we have the same meaning of "wireless internet connection" provided by companies. I am from the Philippines and I used to connect using a "wireless broadband" but I still had to provide my own wireless router to connect "wireless" because the company only provides LAN cables. I now have a different broadband which is bundled with landline phone so I still have to connect my wireless router so I can have a wireless connection at home. I am not sure if what you're talking about is a "readily" wireless internet connection provided by the company because there's nothing like that in my country from what I know. To be honest, I really prefer the first one because they can easily configure problems and solve them immediately since they dont have to deal with broken cables when there are calamities. The second one really is such a big pain everytime it rains during typhoons or when there are road problems because the cables get damaged and usually takes weeks to get fixed. As to the wireless connection in my home, it's really nice since I dont need to deal with lengthy cables and I dont get limited on places I can go to in the house. The instruction is to have the wireless router on "eye-level" with the computer but it's not so much of a problem really even though it's on the first floor and my laptop and desktop are on the second floor. The problems you have to deal with is securing your connection. COnfigure it to be private and invisible so no one else can see and use it. Making it private will prevent other people from freely connecting to your internet while making it invisible will also help it become invisible to hackers who can sniff personal data through your connection. If these adjustments are included on the package you applied for, then you are so lucky. :D Good luck and enjoy!!!!

we have dsl connection via our phone provider. however, both my sister and i have laptops so we had to buy a router to enable multiple usage. and as my laptop is wifi ready i normally go wifi. but, i also have this usb device that allows me to go wifi but this one is more expensive and much slower. i'm not sure how it will turn out with you guys. :)
