I have been trying to get my son rolling skating for years. This week was the first time he went, he is 6, and it has been over 12 years since I have roller skated. Wow, was it different!!! I had a hard time and then went with him around the wall for awhile, then tried to go back to skating like a kid again....wwwhooopss, I fell on my bottom!!! haha Then my son wanted to quit and I told him try alittle longer for atleast an hour and then we could play the games. It was really hard with the teenagers, pushing, shoving, standing in the way and just being really really rude. I am trying to teach my son values, morals, and learn something new and here they are being jerks, obnoxious, spitting on the floor, shoving, cursing, etc.
needless to say we didn't stay for the second session and atleast my son told me on the way home:
"Mom, I had fun skating today."

I am glad he had fun also, it was a cheap night and thing for us to do something. 50 cent night with free roller skate rental for 2 hours!! It was well worth it and can't wait to do it again. :))

I haven't skated for over 40 years! I doubt that I could do it now, but I remember how fun it was. We skated on the sidewalks and were thrilled when we found a new, smooth one instead of the old rough ones. It's too bad about those rude teenagers but at least your son has another wonderful memory of spending time with you!

yea its been 12 years for me and didn't think you would ever forget how to skate, but let me tell you: You do forget!! haha I am hoping to get skates later on and me and my son could go to the walking/skating sidewalk in our local park and relearn and learn how to do it better then a busy roller rink.
I am glad my son had fun and so did I, I am sure we will go again.

Its amazing the lack of respect teenagers show for others, or themselves for that matter, in public. They wouldn't get away with this kind of behavior in front of their parents, in a classroom, or job, but they think they can do or say what ever they want in a public social setting. Anyway, glad you have fun. Me and skating are a bad idea. I tried when I was a kid and almost immediately ended up on my butt.

Yes, its so depressing how they act these days, I don't remember of my clan, friends, aquaintances acting like that. I fell and my poor son fell quite a few times, even got a few pictures on my cell phone for the memories. I just hope one day he will learn and do great, I even told him I think we need to buy a pair and wear to the park to learn during the summer. hahaha
