i did some experimentation the past few days and i was happy with the results. i mean, i wasn't able to make them perfectly, as most first times go, but they're satisfactorily good. :) one of the recipes i tried is Choco Marble Renaissance. it's a Nestle recipe i found at the back of the All-purpose Cream box. i wasn't able to the right form and all but it tasted really good. did you experiment at all this holiday season?

I use family recipes too, but love to cook so I experiment a lot. This year I tried a new chocolate truffle recipe - very, very easy and melt-in-your-mouth. It's baking chocolate - half bittersweet and half semi-sweet, good butter, vanilla, and heavy cream. You cook it until the chocolate is melted, then chill it in the fridge. Then make balls or squares out of it. You are supposed to roll them in cocoa, but I used peppermint candy and crushed it fine, and rolled them in that. Oh, so good!

I can, but are we allowed to? I thought we couldn't write recipes on discussions.

I had it made this year. My daughter cooked nearly all of it. She's a chef without a job right now and she was itching to get into the kitchen. We made up a menu, went shopping, then I sat in the living room while she cooked. The best way to get a good meal!

experimentation is good. pushing you to make something out of the ordinary. during christmas season my wife makes something too that we dont usually have. she tried to make lasagna even without the use of oven and it taste more yummy than the one we buy when eating out. we have that for christmas and she prepared pizza toppings and small crust so we can make our own pizza. it was a blast. its okay even you dont make it perfectly.... sometimes perfect is boring. you can try that again for practice makes it perfect.

I used old family recipes when I cooked this year. With my grandmother being gone for 16 years making these items brought back some great memories. I can not wait until I have children of my own so I can share these recipes with. I was pretty well organized so it made baking very easy.
