Personally for me a dog.I like cats but if I had to choose between them I like a dog to own rather than a cat.I owned many cats and dog and they are both neat pets.Which would you rather own if you can only have one?

What makes me not want a cat is they're very moody,it's like while I'm petting it ,suddenly it scratches me because all of a sudden it wants to be left alone.About five years ago I had a mean cat,I had to get rid of it.He literly attacked me.he would hide and jump out and grab my leg and put his nails in and bite my leg. It's hard to find a friendly one.I had a friendly cat about two years ago but had to get rid of him because of moving. He was so friendly ,I hated to give him up,because it's hard to find one like him.He would lay on my lap while I watched tv.I have a dog now,I probably will just stick with dogs.

It depends on the cat or dog's personality. I don't want a cat or dog that is underfoot all the time or jumps in you lap the second you sit down. We have both a cat and a dog. The cat minds better than the dog. If you want to be gone for a couple of days you can leave the cat alone. A dog has to have a sitter of some kind. You also don;'t have to take a cat for a walk at least twice a day. I like the cat's personality much better. They both have dreadful ways of letting you know that they are unhappy with you.

I owned one cool cat.He was a lap cat.He layed on my lap all the time and was very friendly.he didn't get nasty and scratch me.I had to get rid of him because I had to move.He had a wonderful personality.I miss him. You're right it does depend on the personality. It also depend on your life style ,because if you're busy,I think a cat is better, because they can be left alone with out crying, and they don't need to go outside for a walk.

a cat, because you don't need a yard or have to walk them... and they don't need bathes constantly

If only have one, i had to choose dog though i like the cat better. I always think a dog as a sunny boy while a cat as a girl mysterious and polished. An animal which waves its tail quickly seems so happy.I'd like to see so. But if a cat waves its tail quickly, i can not accept.lol

I would have a dog I dont like cats much. My partner on the othe rhands loves cats and keeps asking for one. She has taught our 18 month old to say "daddy I want a cat". She says it to me all the time and I am like no we can have a dog but not a cat. A cat would probably be easier but a dog is more obiedient!

Yeah,Im like that to no cats, but dogs are great. If you shout "NO" at a cat that dont respond and cant be trained.A dog can, they are much more obiedient than cats. You also cant train a cat to do tricks!I have one dog a lhasa apso, and I love dogs so much I am getting another one. Thanks for your comment.

Definitely a dog, I have had both, and liked having both, but if I could only have one it would be a dog. Let's face it, cats by nature are far more independant animals and don't really need us. Dogs on the otherhand become very bonded with their owner, and are much more of a loyal creature than a cat. Cats will usually seek out attention when they want something, or are expecting something. Dogs on the other hand will seek out attention and give attention just for its own sake. Also, there is the home and family protection factor. When was the last anyone saw a cat defend its owner or a member of its owner's family from danger. I know there are plenty of example of cats sensing danger and helping there family too, but it not the same thing.
