As an environmentalist,I try to change people from using disposable diapers and pull-ups and using cloth diapers training pants with plastic pants, but while a great many mom's will have their children showing them wearing the disposables while out in public, most that do use cloth with plastic pants do not only hide the fact, but are very reluctant to even discuss them?
Could anyone please explain why this style of underwear is so forbidden?
just so you know my reason for asking,I have babysat for around 40 years and will not nor ever have used disposables, first because there were non then because you had to use the plastic pants with them anyway, then for the damage they cause the environment.
thank you for any answers.

I use to wear cloth diapers during my first few weeks, but this was only because we were very tight with money and using cloth diapers were much cheaper than the disposable ones. However, after a few weeks my mum had to get me the disposable ones and share their use with the cloth ones. I don't know how you clean your cloth diapers but my mum found it almost unbearable having to wash the cloth diapers and in practice, washing cloth diapers is not an easy or nice thing to do. Taking care of a baby is already hard and stressful enough without having to go through cleaning cloth diapers, especially if the baby is having digestive issues. Therefore, using disposable diapers make life so much easier and many are actually made from biodegraable material anyway so you won't need to worry about the severe impact the diapers will have on the environment. It's actually so difficult to avoid 'harming' the environment. Almost every man-made thing is not very biodegradable - even the computer you're using to access Mylot will cause severe damage and effects to the environment....

hello Bellapop.
A couple of thoughts for you.
I know in Canada,we have diaper services that will pick-up and wash the diapers for you and replace the ones they take away with fresh ones at the same time, this way,for just a small fee,you do not do this laundry yourself.
As for the so called"bio-degradable" diapers,do not forget, they have a gel in them that soaks up the urine, but as it gets wet,it starts to disintegrate and will leave the chemicals in the child's creases and can be a cause of cancer.
You are of course right in that it is virtually impossible not to harm the environment, but the less disposable material sent to the dumps does help, and while you are probably one of the few that actually puts the disposables in the trash,so many just toss them under their cars or an hidden area available.
To each their own, thank you for your comment.

Yea,I had that as well after they brought the disposables out, many of my customers started to say they wanted me to use them, after the first couple of times,I told them if they wanted to use them, fine,I would not,if they would not let me use cloth,I stopped babysitting for them, most did go back to cloth, but some just kept using the dispoables,so I stopped babysitting for them.
thank you for your answer.
