How many mylotters like to roller skate the oldfashioned way (4 wheels)? When I was growing up there was no other way except roller or ice.....Every weekend my friends and I would go roller skating on Friday and Saturday night... I believe that is probably what kept us out of trouble..... Now they have roller blading(3 wheels in straight roll) I have tried a pair on one time and could not skate on them and have never been ice skating.... they just now opened up a new skating rink up two counties over about hour away and I am 39 but can't wait to get the chance to go..... I miss doing little things sometimes..... So how about it what kind of skating do mylotters enjoy if any

I am a figure skater now (on ice) . . . but it all started when I was younger when I was on quads - roller skating! I roller skated on the sidewalk alone a lot and thought I was so awesome as I thought I had invented all these moves. Once and a while my mom would let me go to the roller skating rink nearby where they dimmed the lights and had some cool music on. It was my dream to be a roller skating star . . . but now my love is figure skating on the ice - I started in my mid 20's and competed and performed - but I haven't trained since starting a family (now I'm in my early 40's). So in a sense, my dreams of roller skating sort of were fulfilled in a similar sport. I would love to try to roller skate again sometime though.

I have always heard that rollerskating is one of those things you never forget..... It is true.... I had not rollerskated for over 15 years and one day my EX took me to a rink.... I skated until my hearts content and never missed a beat.... It was the only thing that he ever did that ever meant anything.... I guess that is why he is a EX

That's great that you got to skate again . . . isn't it just the best feeling? Sorry to hear about your ex, but then again he did give you that one good memory, eh?! And you know, you don't need to go with someone, the cool thing about skating is it is a sport that you can do yourself . . . so I say go for it again!!

It is like anything the oldfashioned roller skates are starting to come back.... just like straight legged pants.... and bell bottoms were in for two years and they were from the 60-70 era....

I'm just recently got a pair of roller skates and they are so much fun. I can't stop skating even though I fall a lot because I'm still new to it. Some people say rollerblading is much better. Is it? Are you any good at it? If you've tried it, please tell me if it's better than roller skates or is it just the same.

Long time no see hagirl, But thanks for continuing to send forth your messages. I had to give it a break for a while. So now let's see if I can get right back in the groove. Speaking of being in the groove, that is how it is with roller-skating. Soon as you get started good. You have to keep it going or else you will fall down on your crown and bust your behind real good. I've done that a couple of times before myself. I fell down and broke my crown, hee hee. Seriously though, back in the seventies I used to go roller skating and I miss it so much. I'm saddened that children today do not have that particular even to enjoy like we did. Girl I can remember the music would be going and we'd be flying around the rink. We had so much fun back then. But those roller blades...... Hummm, that's a totally different story. I'm really kind of afraid to try them. I tried them before too but they didn't set very well with me. I don't know, maybe I just don't have the faith that I once had when I was on the roller blades. I think in our minds we probably felt safer on eight wheels combined versus the way the roller blades are built, in a single line. This was a great discussion and thanks for taking me way back:). Have a nice day.

I think I would be safer on 8 wheels also.... I sure would not do the tricks on the other ones that I did on the old style.... besides I am older now and surely I am not as graceful

I remember when me and my friends used to always go roller skating on Fridays and Saturdays! I would love to go again but I have to say that I would be a little scared it has been so long for me. I have never been rollerblading I don't think I would like that one too much. I have been ice-skating but never could really get the hang of it.

I probably go once every 5 years now it is time for another shot.... I did notice it is like riding a bicycle if you once knew how too you will not forget once you get back up on them... That should make you feel a little bit better about going skating again.
