Why are all the Rappers going to jail? It seems like an epidemic? TI is coming out while Little Wayne is preparing to go in. Rap music seems to have a history of people going to jail or even suffering death. Of course we all know the tragic history of Tupac and Biggie, who both were shot to death.
Does rap music actully try to live up to its image and live its gangster lifestyle? I afriad to much. Do Rap musicians go to jail more than groups such as football players, regular R and B musicians or Doctors, etc. What do you think?

i think a part of the gangsta rap genre includes going to jail and doing crimes to maintain street credibility. i agree that celebrities in general are going to jail, but there are particular artists i know who are trying to gain reputation for themselves. just facts here....

True there are many artist in the Rap world who follow a path of a gansta life stlye and a hard edge rap culture but there are many exceptions. Will Smith and LL Cool J evolved from aRap culture top levels of media and have achieved on a very high level. Ice-T and Ice-Q rose from the hard edges of the gangsta rap culture and have marked our a mainstream perception that is fluid and smooth.
There are many examples of artist who have come out of the Rap World and have achieve and accomplished great abd productive things. SDo just like any other industry, rap music has its high and lows, its good and bad, and it will always be an integral part of life.

Mostly it is reputation but there are instances that they be attacked or stereotyped because of what police and others believe. The vaast majority of those that have gone to jail it has been for stupid and very avoidable things.

I was just thinking about this yesterday whenever I was listening to the radio. I don't know if this is just rappers, I think that it is celebrities in general. I often wonder if they feel that since they have money the laws don't apply to them. There are some that I feel just didn't make the right choice at the time, and others who just don't care because they think that since they are famous they will be able to get out of it. I think that overall celebrities have been getting into a lot of trouble lately. It's honestly kind of strange.

Those who are in the eye of the public tend to be in more danger and more vulnerable to fall to the law. Being idolized and watched everywhere they go, its kind of hard to get away with the things they would do when there was no fame. Nonetheless, its not just "rappers" but "celebrities" in general.

i think the rap culture is what is to blame. the more thugish you are, the more albums you get to sell. this is because most of the buyers/listeners of rap are young people who are disillusioned on what is wrong or right.
