I made a batch of homemade chocolate truffles for the first time yesturday. I think they are actually pretty good. The recipe called for cream cheese, vanilla, chocolate chips, and sugar (of course) and I thought that cream cheese is kind of an odd thing to make a truffle out of, but it turned out alot of recipes I came across called for it. So i tried them out and nobody that has tasted them have made a complaint. I was very proud of myself. Does anyone out there have a great homemade truffle recipe they would like to share?? I think this is my new favorite treat to make!! :)

Oh yeah! They are very simple unlike alot of truffle recipes where you have to dip and let harden and dip and let harden....these are quick, easy, and delicious! Ok these are the ingredients you will need: 3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar 8 oz cream cheese 4 oz chocolate chips 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup cocoa powder (optional) First you need to let the cream cheese soften a little by leaving it out on the counter to get warm(ish) and soften. Then to the softened cream cheese you will then add the 3 and a half cups of powdered sugar. The next step is to melt the chocolate chips in a saucepan on the stove, make sure you stir them constantly because they burn very quickly if you do not stir them. Add the melted chocolate to the cream cheese and sugar. Mix these very well until the mixture is creamy and well blended. You can then stick the bowl in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes to an hour. You want the mixture to be somewhat hardened but still soft enough to mold into balls. When the mixture is at this state you then want to mole it into little balls (whatever size you want them to be). Now the reason the cocoa powder is optional is because you can leave them like this, or you can take the cocoa and put it on a plate and then roll the chocolate balls in the cocoa to give them a coat of it. I did mine half with and half without the cocoa. Then enjoy!! And I keep my house pretty warm so I kept mine in a sealed container in the refrigerator so they would not melt. :) Hope you like them!!

Oh yeah no problem. It was really easy which is what I like :) unless it is a real special day or something, I like things quick and easy and that taste real good too!! One recipe I read said it would take 3 hours to make these truffles. They were coats though you had to make the chocolate mix and mold them into balls and then dip them, let that harden, dip them, let that harden....I was like ono way am I taking that long to make some candy!!! haha these I will make these agin though I liked them.
