Did you pay for your 2010 calendar or get a free one?

are you the type of person that likes to buy a calendar? like one of those nice ones with pretty pictures or maybe your favorite celebrity or movie? are you one of the people that like to buy the type where you tear off the days as you go? did you get one specialty made with family or friends pictures on it? or do you just like to get a free plain boring kind and refuse to pay for one? im personally a free calendar girl. i love the ones in stores but i wouldnt want to mark all my notes on it and toss it at the end of the year and since mine are practically in pieces by the end of the year so its not like it would be pretty anymore! i did do an offer to make personal calendars for my hubby, best friend and myself because i got to make them for free and thought it would be a cool keepsake and a way for my hubby to keep family pics at his desk with out it looking cluttered. so what type are you? how much have you ever paid for a nice one? and do you keep them or throw them away at the end of the year? (i sometimes keep mine just so i can get the dates of when i had medical tests done etc when i forgot to note them)

I do something that's kind of in between your two options, lol! I go for very cheap calendars! I often forget to buy one in time, and so don't actually end up getting one until a few months into the new year, and they're often reduced by then. But I bought this year's calendar in Poundland, for £1, which I thought was pretty good. It's got some nice pictures on and a few lines to write things in for each day, so I'm very happy with it.

I forgot the last bit of your question. I find it difficult to throw them away usually, especially the ones with really nice landscapes, flowers or beaches. So they usually end up in a cupboard somewhere.

I have bought a few calendars but none in the last few years. These last few years have been freebie calendar years. My sister in law ends up picking up a few freebie ones and giving us some. We have two right now from different places that was given to us. Which is good since one is bigger then the other and we can write appointments down and birthdays with no problems.I did keep the ones I bought and even framed a few of the pictures since they were so beautiful..especially the under the sea ones of the dolphins which my bathroom theme is.

I tend to be the kind of person that either makes neat little scrapbook calendars or picks up the free ones from various businesses. If i want a desk calendar then i purchase it...but then its HUGE.

hi moonlitmagikchild, Every year my company gives us 2 kinds of calendar, desk and wall calendar. I usually got them for free and use it at home. I also have calendar that was given by a good friend. My favorite one is from Cathay Pacific Airways which has Chinese graphics and symbols, it's pretty cool. The other one is from a bank which I also got for free, it has intricate design actually, it was a painting/art work by a popular artist here in the Philippines...really beautiful. I really don't buy it because I always get it every year for free. and I'm happy about it.

Both. The calender that we hung on the wall we got for free and always do every year. My personal planner where I keep track of EVERYTHING I purchased at a discount book store. Also, on a whim I bout a small magnetic calendar where the days peel off and each has my horoscope for that day.

I never buy a calendar oops once I did - A Mr Winkle calendar - the adorable little dog that has made his owner a fortune - He has his calendar every year plus his own line of clothes - I pade $12.00 thirteen years ago and still have it. Other than that I never pay for a calendar - My brother from Houston and my bank usually sends me one - This year I also got one from Oriental Trading - beautiful rich pictures for each month - large squares that I can write my appointments on if not I also will forget where I am supposed to be on certain days. I never really think to buy a calendar and probably will not with so many freebies I want pay - use that money for a treat for myself. Happy New Year fabians36 I'm a newbee - today is my first day - so glad to meet all of you

I try to be a freebie person too. Provided the calender is large enough to write things in the small boxes for each day, and there is one page fopr every mionth, then I go for the freebies. This year I got a free calnder from the local chemist. Its quite good. The pages are large, and there is one for every month. It has bright colourful photos, mostly of special events, such as Fathers Day, etc. Not my favourite kind of photos, as I prefer animals and nature. But Im not that fussy that I will refuse a decent calender. Sometimes the discount shop sell greatr calenders with beautiful cats and I like those.

Hi moonlitmagikchild. I got free ones for 2010, at least when it came to the full sized wall calendars. However, with a little mini one that I got, I paid for it. As I actually prefer the mini calendars over the full sized ones I figured it was worth the few dollars I spent on it to buy it. I like being able to keep such a small calendar as it hardly takes up any space and I can always put it in my purse, if need be. I didn't really want the free full sized ones, but what can I say, the employees at the store I got them from kind of pushed them on me. I figured what the hell as they are free anyway. LOL Oh, and I normally hold onto them, at least until I've jotted everything down from the year before onto the new calendar. Happy mylotting!

I usually get a calendar for Christmas. My mom gave me a calendar for 2010 and it is called Paradise. It has twelve amazing looking photos of tropical beaches. I love to look at pictures of white sandy beaches and palm trees plus a blue ocean. I have a pack to make a personal calendar and I am intending to make one of family photos. I love to take photos and it would make a charming keep sake. A wonderful calendar would cost around ten pounds. That is about fifteen dollars roughly. I don't write on my calendar but I have a personal organizer to do that in.

I made a family calendar for my parents one year. Pictures of family members appeared on the months where they have their birtdays. Wedding pictures appeared on the months of the anniversaries. Obviously more than one picture per month. More like a collection of photos. My mother kept the calendar and every year she takes the "new" calendar and pastes it over the old one so she can still use the picture calendar. I love family photos too. They are everywhere in my house. My mother-in-law commented on that when she was here this past week. I tried to get the kids to give me a mug with a picture of the two of them that I haven't seen before but the kiosk didn't show up at the mall this year.

This year I have bought one, a family planner one as I am due to give birth in 2 weeks so I thought this would be handy for both myself and my boyfriend about events that come up in our life. My mum always buys me a Wallace and Gromit calendar which never gets opened. It gets stored away as I adore Wallace and Gromit and want to keep these as keep sakes. Last year we got a free calendar from our local Chinese takeaway and the year before that my brother and sister-in-law made us one with family pictures which I have kept so I can keep the pictures. I like the idea of home-made calenders with family pictures in them but I haven't got the patience to do such thing.

We always get calendars for free. Sometimes its from business establishments who are really handing out free calendars as part of a marketing strategy or just a simple thank you to the patrons. Sometimes we get them free from the Christmas shopping. Like there are those sponsor brands that when you buy a minimum value of purchase from their brand, then you'll get free calendars. For my 2010 calendar, I got mine from those sponsor brands. This is the one that I posted on my wall. I also have 3 more that Im going to give away to friends if they still dont have 2010 calendars.^_^

I have what you would call a perpetual calendar. Yet I am a veteran and when I go to the V.A outpatient clinic I'll usually pick one up. I use it on my desk to write down appointments. I really like perpetual calendars better I have one in my office which is made out of light-houses for the months and different colored sea shells for the days. It's very beautiful to look at and I truly enjoy it more than any calendar I have ever received. My daughter and the other hand likes comical calendars and will buy new ones every year.

I used to receive new calendars every year since I was young. I don't feel like buying ones when there are for free. My aunt is one of the promoters of one of the most popular beauty and skin care products here in the Philippines. They make calendar with the pictures of their products every year and they give these calendars to people for free. I received this 2010 calendar when we had a Christmas party and a family reunion at the same time which was sponsored by this aunt of mine. Aside from cash and other gifts, she also handed us these calendars. Aside from that, I received another free calendar from an appliance company when I bought my digital camera last December, 2009.

I need several calendars. I get a free one in the mail of MILK Canada which contains recipes. Last year's I kept on the treadmill so I could record my mileage. This year I got a free one from a church member who is a real estate agent. It has inspirational messages on it. I will use that one for my treadmill this year. I ordered a free one from Joyce Meyer Ministries to keep on my desk, but I also need a day-by-day daytimer. Didn't have to buy one this year as I won one in a gift basket from my daughter's elementary school. But I also need a big 4-month dry erase calendar to keep track of all the kids' activities, colour-coded. I have a one-month dry erase calendar on my kitchen fridge, also colour-coded. I bought my kids calendars for Christmas. Though they use their calendars on their cell phones, they said they wanted them - icarly and Jonas Brothers. That's the only reason I spend money on calendars. I get way too many free ones to waste money on buying one. And depending on the calendar, I usually keep it. I never know when I have to refer back to it.

I actually bought the one I have for this year...it was only a dollar and had some beautiful pics on it. I usually get a free one and I've bought the ones that the Animal Shelter has put out to help support the shelter too. I always keep them and have several that go back several years. Hi moonlitmagikchild, I usually get a free calender each year from my friends or the department stores. This year, I only got my 2010 calender today (3 Jan 2010), as no free calender were distributed by the department store. I planned to buy one but my friend told me she had a spare one yesterday, so I finally had a free one again. :) Have a nice day! agonyaunt69 (8:53pm 3 Jan 2010, Hong Kong time)

My company gave us desk calendars for free, which make our daily work easier as we can keep notes on it or circle out the special days and mark them. However the company stopped to give out calendars to us this year and we have to buy a desk calendar for ourselves. Luckily, I got one from my bank for free,as a gift for its clients. Actually I am not a calendar collector, but i do like those calendars with beautiful pictures on them or with a specific theme or with special symbols. Most importantly I need a calendar to keep a note of my daily plan and my work plan. Recently, calendars with family photos or photos of ourselves or friends are increasingly in fashion. One of my colleagues have made a set of this kind calendars for herself and her family.I also plan to make one set for myself and my family. I can use my photos to keep my parents company when they miss me. and this kind of calendar is considered to be a commemorative photo album to help record our beautiful or unforgettable stories or memories.LOL

For the last couple of years I would get a calendar that was based on my religion. However, this past year I've spent a lot of time in my Outlook calendar and decided not to buy one for 2010. It has me a bit conflicted especially since the previous calendars that I bought had good tips and recipes in them. I'll have to replace it with websites that offer similar things.
