Is email your working platform in your daily work?

I am working in the company dealing with import and export business, so everyday I need to receive and send dozens of even hundreds of business emails. We need to make inquiry, place orders, send documents and get confirmation. Email plays an vital important role in our work, it sets up the communication bridge between us all over the world.
Do you frequenrly use emials as your working platform?

I'm a engineer, so, i receive and send a little email, most is internal email of company.

Well emailing in my profession takes 40%, as a engineer i need to report to my boss and colleagues officially.

I'm an sysnet (System and Network Engineer). I don't do alot of emailing. But I do maintain a mail server. I Think, email is as important as phone number. Everytime I have an engineering forum, I always ask for email, not phone number. :D
