any song that would fit my vocal range and style and that i could sing the best. some of these auditions keep trying to sing songs what are either popular, too hard or WAY out of their range, and that's what makes it funny. Honestly i don't know what song would match me best. I've sang some country before like Feels Like A Woman, and I've also done a popular pop song like What A Girl Wants for a competition and got 3rd place. I'm probably most comfortable with the song Again by Janet but I don't thing it would be a good song to show my vocal range. If you want to audition you have to make sure you pick a song that shows your true talent.

Hey thats pretty exciting though. a contest is a contest right :) Yeah I love Alicia Keys songs, and I have been told I sing them pretty good :) I really like Mariah Carey aswell. I have a very large range of notes I can hit though, I can go really high like Mariah does, and I just think she is amazing!

Wow third place thats good, congratulations :) I dont know if this was recent or a long time ago but thats pretty cool. What competition was it?

I would probably sing Change(In the House of Flies) by the Deftones or Digital Bath by the Deftones. I'm not a real big fan of any mainstream artists so I don't really think any of the American Idol judges would pick me because I don't really fit the American Idol image which is okay because I think American Idol is a pretty big mockery of music and the process of how most musicians get signed.

I watched the first two seasons and I really just liked to watch the tryouts and laugh at the people who thought they sounded really good, but they were terible. Then it got old, and I felt like a very rude person just sitting and laughing at people getting their dreams crushed. I love music so I do love to hear people sing and hear all the different genres people choose. But the whole show itself I neevr have really watched. I like auditions :) Also I have never heard of the Deaftones so I am not familiar with them at all.

I would sing a power song from the 80's from Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam. Because I could show my vocal range with that song, and because it is an older song it would not be a song that they have already heard 50 times that same day. I am sure that when the same song is sung over and over again even if you are a good singer it gets monotonous and the judges may pass you up just on that alone. I also think it is good when women sing songs that were originally sung by men, and visa versa, because then you are not compared to the original singer.

Yes I definatley agree about the same song being sung 50 times the same day. I knwo they must get sick of hearing them over and over. I also think you have a great thought about women singing songs men originally sang, and men singing songs women originally sang. I never thougth about that before but you are right then they are something fresh and would not be compared to the original artist as much as if they are of the same gender. Great thinking :)

I have actually given this a lot of thought. I was ready to audition for this season until a friend asked if that was really what I wanted to do with the rest of my life... Because you just know if I wasn't sure, then karma would spite me by pushing me all the way through to the end
But the songs I had prepared were fairly unconventional...okay a lot unconventional. They were not songs that the judges would be tired of hearing but have really great vocal lines to show off my voice...
White Flag by Dido
This Time Imperfect by AFI
Deep Red Bells by Neko Case
Believer by Kill Hannah (My absolute favorite band...it would probably be my song in the final audition just to get it on the show as a salute to them, more than anything)

Wow you were really going to audition. I have never even thought about it, I love to sing and everything and have been told by quite a few people that I have a very nice voice, but I dont think I would be able to go through with the process. Being away for so long, and I am not a competitive person at all so I would feel so bad for anyone who did not make it. :)

I have never heard either of these songs before. So I am not familia with them at all, but I find it interesting just asking random questions and seeing what everyones responses are. Its amazing how different they sometimes are! :) I am glad i found this site, it is pretty relaxing for me I guess to just have some alone time and go on the computer and talk about....well....anything really. :)
