Hey, people! I wonder if you collect anything?
I collect post stamps, I've been doing it for like 10 years I think. I am not a serious collector, it's just like hobby. I have like one or two thousands of stamps I think, it's quite interesting to see which stamps are being used in other countries.
(If you have some spare stamps then you can send me lol)
I also started to collect Galoob Military Micro Machines recently. I had some of them when I was a kid, but they all got stolen and then I saw them recently at eBay. Now I've ordered two sets from USA and now save money for another sets.
Do you collect anything? How large is your collection?

Almost 10 years I collect frogs - plush, wood, glass and other material.
I start my collection, because one day I saw beautiful frog jumping straight the street and I try to caught it, because I afraid that some car will ride over it. The frog jump away in grass, and I was satisfied. Some of my friends saw it and start to present frogs to me, so my collection started.

You have such a special hobby in my opinion. You know, lot of people collect elephant figurines, but you collect frogs. The story of your hobby is also interesting, like some kind of fairy tale, where magic frog leads the main character into some mysterious place
How many frogs do you have in your collection already?

When I was younger I collected trolls. The little ones were pretty easy to find back then so I had a whole bunch of them. Well my young cousin really liked them and she got really sick in the hospital so I gave her my collection and put them all around her room to cheer her up. Now I collect coins. I live in the US and I have a quarter from every single state. It doesnt seem like a big collection but it was difficult to get all 50 states :)

I find it was a quite generous decision to give the trolls to your little cousin. I am sure she liked them a lot.
Collecting coins is an interesting hobby, I didn't knew that in USA there are different coins in every state. Here in Estonia there are 15 counties, they are quite small so there is no sense of forging special money for every county.
Thanks for answer!(;

Oh no they are the same coin. But on quarters (25 cents) each one says one of the 50 states on it. So they are the same coin just have a different name on them :) sounds stupid probably but all the states have a different picture aswell. The front is always the same. But on the back of the coin it will either say united states of america or it will say one of the states, and have a corresponding picture with that state. :) They are the same coin though.

Yea-yea, I got it. It's like on Euros. In European Union there is standard money - Euro. 1 Euro coins all have the same front side, but the back of the coins is unique for each country, it has a country name and symbol of the country on the back. So for me it would pretty much the same to collect coins from all the 27 countries of EU like you collect coins of different states:D
Oh, wait, all 27 haven't adopted Euro yet, so it would be even easier to collect all the different Euro coins:D
Anyway, it's cool that you have something like that. You should try putting them inside some special box covered with glass or something, so you could exhibit them like that!;)

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have also a little collection of coins, but nothing rare here, I don't actively collect them anymore. But there is one special coin I found at my garden while gathering potatoes from the field. I think it's a Swedish coin (I live in Estonia and centuries ago Swedish invaded the land). The coin might be some 500-700 years old, can't say exactly.
But yea, collecting coins is an interesting hobby too. Thanks for answer!;)

Hi Biomechanoid!
I collect elephants. Not real one of course, to the endless dismay to the children of my friends, they always hope I have a real elephant on my veranda. The problem is that at some point it's not room for more elephants on shelves and tables, so now I have calmed down. I think I have around 200 elephants, maybe 250. I think you can say I collect books though, and comic books. Not sure how many I have, but far too many for my flat so they have to live the storage rooms in the cellar.

Hey Torunn, funny story with these elephants and kids hoping to see a real one:D
200-250 is quite large collection in my opinion and I understand what you mean when you say you have no room for them. Same thing with books. They take pretty much space. Do you have elephants from some exotic countries too? I mean like India or some African country?

Wow, Thailand is exotic country for me. Nice plans you have, I would like to visit Africa too, some day. To see lions and elephants running freely around savanna, not sitting in the cages, like in the zoo.

Wow, that's cool! I think there is a huge variety of them, so you'll never collect them all, it makes collecting them interesting. It's also good that you can make some money out of them. Thanks for responding, have a great day!:)

First I collected a lot of comics. In fact, I still remember that one day I counted and found out that I had 460 comics. I wanted to make it 500 comics, but never reached that figure. After that a lot of people boroowed my comics never to return it, and some I sold it and finally the rest got lost.Even after all these years, I still remember those books, like Beetle Bailey, Walt Disney and Classic Illustrated.
I also had Phanthom comics which were the first comics published in India.

Yes, it is a sad fact, and if I had all those comics, it would have been a collectors items now.

Wow, 460 is like a comics library! When I was a child, my friend had lots of comics, like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck or something, that Walt Disney stuff. I used to borrow them too, the whole seasons of them, but I always brought them back to him.
Too bad your collection got lost

That's really cool. My dad used to collect postage stamps too but that was years ago. I actually like to collect anime, manga and anything related. Anime refers to Japanese animation and manga are Japanese comics. The last time I counted I had over 500 volumes of manga and about 140 anime DVDs. I also have a few action figures (Gundam models), wallscrolls, soundtracks and bunch of other knick knacks. If it's anime/manga related then I'd usually get it. I've been collecting these for almost 10 years now but it's a pretty expensive hobby so I've had to cut back a bit.

I haven't seen much of manga and anime, only some short clips and there was once a documentary about this art. Anyway, I find it quite cool, it's something special for me. And gosh...500 volumes and 140 DVD's, now that's impressive!!
I wish you good luck with expanding your collection, perhaps you can establish a small home museum one day! Thanks for sharing!:)

When I was about 10 I remember collecting wrestling stuff. Like all boys my age, I absolutely loved it and had all the merchandise and stuff
As I grew up, I kind of grew out of my passion for wrestling and sold all my stuff like figures, VHS tapes and stuff. I have many fond memories and good times of being young, and this was one of them

Yea, I wrestling is quite popular in USA. Here, in Estonia, all little boys (including me), used to collect stickers and posters with soccer players. The collecting madness reached its heights when the world cup 1998' was on.
I also agree, that sometimes it's good to think about good times that have passed.
My passion to collecting Micro Machines started when I also saw some of them on eBay and they reminded me of my childhood.

Up to around 5 years ago, I was fond of collecting stationeries, magazines, posters and pinups (BSB, Britney, etc), stickers, Casper memorabillia, etc. I still have all of them. i dont think I can ever give them away. I have put so much effort, money and time in them so it's hard to just let go. :(

Yes, it's the right choice to keep them. You can later show them to your children or grandchildren or just recall the old times when you used to collect them! Thanks for responding!;)

i've got a stamp collection, been sorta collecting them for just over 20 yrs. nothing fancy just when different stamps come out on the mail, got lots from the uk as well. along with other countries, i've got one full stamp book, and the other is part full. plus a few other little books, with older stamps in them. i really should go for a hunt and collect the stamps to put in my albums again.

You know what? I live in Estonia and I bet you have no stamps from my country. Or anyway, if you even have some, I could send you more of them. I mean, we could make kind of exchange like that. What country do you live in?

When I was in elementary until I reached high school, I was fond of collecting stationaries, stickers, stamps, and hello kitty stuff. Those things were really very cute and nice for me that's why I decided to collect almost all of those things. But, as I grew older, my interests have changed. When I was in college, I gave all of my collections to my nieces and nephews and I found their happy faces upon receiving those things. Now that I am already a graduate, I found myself interested in collecting wonderful paper bags. Every time I go shopping and buy branded products, I always keep the papar bags with me.

Wow, your hobby is once again something special for me. Never heard anyone collecting paper bags. But I think it's quite interesting too. And there are like thousands or millions different paper bags around the world, so you'll never get all of them. And that's what makes collecting paper bags interesting!;)
And by the way, my hobby of collecting stamps started when my mother gave her collection to me. She used to collect them while she was at school, but after graduating she didn't have time for that. So your decision about forwarding your collections to your nieces was probably right, you had also a chance to make other people happy by giving them those cute collectibles!;)
