red ear slider turtles

i have brung back baby turtles from virgina beach several times already they dont sell them up were im from in PA its like illegal or somthin so i bring them home from the beach. i take care of them and make sure the water is the right temp and they seam healthy and happy buut then one turtle shell gets soft eyes get coudy i get them turtle medicene doesnt work. that turtle dies, and then its one after another.. i dunno if anyone has had similar problems. or am i doing somthin wrong? they sell the big red ear sliders up here. maybe i should get those
