Are celebs supposed to be perfect?

So they are in the spotlight and sometimes looked at as role models. Does this mean that celebs should act perfect. No cussing, partying, cheating, or anything wrong. I always try to say they are human too and are gonna mess up too. But really when you think about it, when you become a celeb does that mean you take over the responsibility of being a good, rule following, positive influential person? What do you think?

The simple answer is yes and no. Yes to their good deeds, no to their bad deeds.

To be honest I think that answer wasn't so simple in fact I am a little confused.

I'm sorry for confusing you :) I'll just rephrase my answer, I said yes because they are public figures and have great influence to everybody on whatever they do that their fans try to emulate them. I said No in the sense that it doesn't matter if they are perfect as long as we people know what is good and bad about them, which means even if their imperfect we can still emulate some good things about them.

the media seems to think so..people forget celebs aren't any different than anyone else, just more rich.of course some of the celebs themselves forget that too. i personally don't think famous people should be a benchmark for anybody.

we know very well that they are only human and imperfect just like anyone else. problem is the people who tends to idolize a star knowing that they only show us part of their lives in which most of the time are their success that if we try to analyze deeply, we ourselves do have successes in our lives too. the only difference is, they publicized everything while we dont. that's why whenever issues like cheating or partying or anything wrong suddenly break news, it becomes a very big issue wherein looking back on us, we also do those things but never considered it wrong. happy mylotting natnickeep

i think in todays media celebs are supposed to be perfect as their in the spot light and role models. but i disagree with them having to be perfect as no one is and i know there in the spot light but i think its awful how as soon as they do anything wrong its splashed all over the papers. happy mylotting

Yes this is what I am saying not privacy for the famous. It just isn't fair. Sometimes as much as I would love to be rich and famous this part of it makes me say nevermind.

They put themselves in the spotlight. Therefore, they are held to a higher standard. When the world is watching a person, everyone cares and there actions are analyzed to the point where they are over analyzed. They have the same problems as average every day people. But, since they are famous and considered role models, they are held on a higher pedestal. Thus it seems much worse. I think we as a society forget that celebrities are only human. They are prone to mistakes. Its just that those mistakes are much worse because they are plastered over television, magazines, the internet, and every where else.

I know I really think 20 or 30 years ago more of the celeb news highlighted the good they were doing and now it seems to be all bad. Any bad thing they can find.

yes, celebs always need to be perfect irrespective of their language, religion, region, country and age. It not just movies, workplace, politics, sports and fashion but also the street and families that launch people as celebs. Therefore, i think for good impact on Earth they should be perfect

But people are not perfect and they can not be either with the lives that they live. They have a stressful life and the more stressed you are the harder it is to be a good person. Especially when everyone is looking at every move you make. You can't even crap the wrong way really.

I think celebs should be able to act like everyone else. They have their own uniqueness why not let them use it? Take for instance adam lambert on ama awards. Adam was bing himself. There was no reason for the harshness that he got from ABC.

I think many don't worry about being perfict. Most can commit crimes and get off with a slap on the wrists. How many times have you seen DWIs that were community service by them, but would be jail or prison time for the rest of us? I think they are considered priviledged and shouldn't be. I don't think they're role models, unfortunately kids do. I hate scandel sheets, too. I wish people would quit buying them. I think it encourages some of them to act like worse fools and others-that are actually trying to change or keep things in the family- then the popparazzi try even harder to get the story. They should be able to have some privacy sometimes and not be chased around on a date like Diana, Pricess of Wales was. I can live without knowing every move every celebrity makes, but I know some people who can't. They buy all the scandel sheets every week.

Yes I so wonder what are these people like? How do they do with their own life scandals. Probably not very well since they are to worried about other peoples. I am glad I have none of these kind of people in my life. Someone the other day told me when I asked what needed to be discussed on mylot that I should talk about some recent celeb gossip. I forget what it even was, but I was like ya right. I wouldn't bother. But hey here I am talking about celeb gossip. Well sort of I guess.

They are humans. Just like us, they cry, laugh, removes bowels, and commits mistakes.

Yep yep this is true and the media would like to capture them doing all these things and more. That is what is so wrong. They gave up their privacy for fame right.

Celebrities are supposed to LOOK perfect. Any thoughts of their being perfect are in the minds of the fans and the over-zealous stories of the media.

When ever I actually hear about a celeb through the grape vine or on the yahoo news page, it is never good. That is why I usually don't listen. Because I guess I really don't care about how human they are. Why do some people care about these peoples lives so much?

No, they are human just like everybody else, and everybody knows that humans are far from perfect I find it unfair how society pressurizes celebrities to be perfect and gives them grief when they aren't and reveal that they aren't too different from us. When you achieve a certain amount of fame, I do believe that you have a responsibility to uphold, because you are constantly in the spotlight, so you need to set a good example and be a good role model to your fans

Yes I think it would be much easier if the media wasn't just out to get all the dirt. They know that gossip seems to sell better than celebs doing a good deed so that is what they put out there. This is so wrong.

No they shouldn't be expected to be perfect, but they are. The media has a habit of building celebrities into this unrealistic god like status in some cases, and when these people are found to not be perfect, that same media pounces on them like a pack of wild dogs. I call in "Kick you in head when your down syndrome".

I think if anything the media highlights their flaws not their perfections. That was sort of my point. How often do you get new back about a celeb doing something good, not getting arrested or cheating, um not to often.

they should at least be a good role model...! they don't have to be perfect...i meant they are after all a human! but if they made mistake then they should at least at least acknowledge their mistake, apologize, reflect, and correct their mistakes! to show some positive influence to those looking up to them! just my thought!

That is kind of what I thought a little too. I mean these people wanted to be in the spot light and wanted to be famous. So does that in return give them the responsibility to be good people?
