Anyone have crafting goals for 2010

I was just thinking a day or two ago, it would be nice to have some craft goals this year. Last year I made a few, and I fell short big time. This year I am going to make my family two pair of slippers. I will have them done by June. I am trying to see if I can sell more jewelry in my booth at the flea market. I am going to start off with about 20 pieces and see how they sell. I would like to use my embroidery machine a little bit more. It is really just gathering dust in the house.

I plan to work on my handmade projects this year. I skipped last year because I have my time filled with the new baby. This year, I plan to replenish my supplies and start with my crochet projects and teach myself knitting. If I can include sewing and embroidery in between, that would be great. The thought of making something my child would wear made me giddy.

Well babies tend to keep us busy so I understand. It's great that you thought yourself knitting. Knitting always seemed difficult to me.

It is difficult. I still have to get past the swatches and the knit and purl stitches.

well with 2 family babies (one my own) and 3 friend's babies on the way I hope to actually get a quit done for each. I am behind on two from last year though that must be finished first. Once I get through the morning sickness (week 14 of it) I should have more time as I will not be spending half of it catching up on my house work... :)

I just finished reading about your morning sickness...I can so relate, except when I was pregnant with my daughter it wasn't just morning sickness. It was afternoon, evening, and midnight sickness too. It lasted for 6 looooooonnnnnnngggg months! I did everything with a barf bucket within reach. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled with the constant barfing and less thrilled with the labor (36 hours of constant pain...and a doctor that was a real mean monster that I would have loved to kick. I ended up farting in his face as I delivered my daughter, and it wasn't a sweet one either. The rest of the staff were taking turns at the oxygen!!! Plus I also bit the nurse that was lunging across my ribs like I was a tube of tooth paste to try to squirt the baby out...) so I only had one child. I hope your morning sickness ends soon!!! You brought back memories and even now I think about how much I missed only having one baby...it kind of quells the temptation.

In comparison to two of my other kids this time around isn't so bad, just takes up a lot of my day. I home school 3 kids already so it's hard to find time as it is.

I am searching for new crafts to use for my craft sales...I am always looking for some new ideas. With the spring sale right around the corner it would be nice to have some easter ideas.....so that would be my goal...to find new things to do.

I am not a very crafty person, But I love horses and I found this really pretty needle point phote for my wall. I had no clue up until a week ago how to do needle point. Thank goodness for a patient mother in law who has shown me how. I may be 105 before it is finished, But I am going to attempt it.

You can allot sometime weekly and work on it, you might want to allot half an hour daily or even one hour a week.

My main goal in 2010 is to be a vendor at a festival that features the focal piece of the jewelry I create (sea glass). I wanted to do the show last year, but hesitated because I didn't think I was good enough and/or had enough product to offer for a long two-day event. (these shows ten to attract up to 6,000 people each day...and they are all there to see or purchase one thing) So I'm pointing towards doing that show in the fall...hopefully I will be able to find enough quality pieces to fill out a table...or even better, perhaps split the fee and space with another vendor. Other goals for my crafting is too sell my creations at a few more shops and galleries and to only attend the better shows... quality over quantity. I miss sitting at my crafting table, fiddling around with my sea glass and just letting the creativity flow. Getting more time to create is always a goal of the New Year and I hope to fulfill that goal in 2010. Maybe it's time for hubby to sit behind the table at shows and allow me to create

It sounds like you are making some wise decision, and you are right quality does trump quantity every time.Good luck.

I have a lot of ideas in my mind but it is hard to make them real. I like cafts and alll the handmade things. I bought a sewing machine but I'm using it only for 1 or 2 times on month. I hope this year I can do all I want.

I know what you mean about ideas. I have quite a few myself, but I cannot figure out how to implement some.

I have set several goals for myself for the new year. 1. GET ORGANIZED!!! I have had such a bad mess from when my daughter, son in law, grand daughters and the son in laws uncle were living with me. I took all my sewing stuff into my bedroom or packed it away so the grand kids wouldn't get into it. It didn't work, and it resulted in a horrible mess. 2. Get bears finished, I have a bunch that are sewn and ready for stuffing, plus I have enough fur stashed that I need to get made into bears. I would love to have about 500 bears finished for the fall sales. It would put a nice chunk of money back into my pocket, which is earmarked for the remodel of my kitchen and other repairs that I need to do on my home. 3. Get my entries for the fair finished by April. I missed last years fair because of my total knee replacement surgery. I was too sick from pain to be able to get the stuff done in time. Plus it's hard to work when you're either in a chair with your leg propped up or flat on your back in bed. 4. I am getting a replacement embroidery machine in a few days. It's on its way from Arkansas. I' m excited and plan to do a lot of fancy clothes for the teddy bears. I might even do some doll clothes for sales. (It would be a great idea for you too. There are a lot of doll clubs nation wide and there are always women looking for people to sew doll clothes for their dolls.) 5. Right after I take down my Christmas tree I plan to move my sewing cabinet into the family room. It's where my mini Dachshunds have their pen that they stay in when I am doing other things and don't want them loose. If I am in the work room Little Bit, the male of the pair, will bark at anything and everything even if it's just a bird passing wind in the next county! 6. I want to finish the quilt for my best friend for her birthday in April. Then I plan to make one for me. After that, I have two or three quilt tops that my Mom was working on before she passed away, and I would love to get them finished and in use. Are you planning to knit the slippers or sew them? I always carry along a project when I go to doctors offices so that if I have a wait I have something to do. I plan to work on a afghan that I have fallen in love with the pattern. It is a "circular" ripple design that I spotted in the Mary Maxim catalog. I like things that are more challenging and that looks like it might fit the bill. When I got started knitting, after the first sweater that was just plain knitting I then started doing cables and now I love the Aran style of knitting with all the cables and other pattern additions.

Wow, you are going to be busy. I normally crochet the slippers. I don't know how to knit.

In 2009 I finished knitting a blanket, and I would like to make another one in 2010. I made a few mistakes when I knitted the first one, and in my next blanket I am going to use the things that I have learned. The last blanket took me more than one year, and I might not finish the next blanket in 2010, but I will start and see how far I get. I have a couple of other goals for 2010. I am going to paint a huge painting for the first time. Most of my other paintings have been relatively small, so the big one will be a challenge and a new experience. In 2010 I also plan on making some more cards. I have plenty of material, and that is nice. I have thought about one more thing. I would like to try something completely new, and I think it could be interesting to make some sculptures. I have never tried that before, but I have often thought about it.

Yes that was one of my major goals for this year...my first is health related and the other one was to get more motivated towards some crafting. I monkeyed around with it a little bit last year but I was hoping to get a lot more involved with them this year and maybe or at least I am really hoping that I can make a little bit of money from them with in the next year or two but praying it is sooner than later....

I wanted to make some earrings so badly a few years back and also even mix up my own body scrub to give away to friends but never had the chance to do so. But it made me think of writing a list of crafty works that I can accomplish for this 2010 and hopefully I become successful in doing so.

I tried making earrings, and I did not have any success. It is something I would like to try again. I have body scrub on my to do list as well.

I am looking into getting back into making mosaic jewelry box and sell them online. I am trying to find places where I can get unfinished wooden boxes cheaply. I am also looking into making wind chimes. I am looking for small bird houses that I can paint and then buy the chimes separately to hang. I hope to sell these online as well.
