Do you think rules have changed? Are there any rules at all in seducing?

I spent my New Year's even with several single man and woman...they were all around 30. I was the only one who was in relationship and my boyfriend was there so I got info from both side. Single girls were my friends while single guys were my boyfriend's friends so HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:They were all trying to dance but the guys would dance or with me as my boyfriend was there so there was no place for jealousy or they danced with me or they just danced alone, the girls were dancing together or alone. So the next day my boyfriend told me that the guys were commenting that the girls were totally not for any kind of action and that the times when a man had to be the one to approach the woman have long been gone. I understand what the guys meant because there was this girl who kept sitting and staring at them...like women at courts hundreds of years ago and she waited for someone to ask her to dance with him...as if she was a princess or something. But the truth is that today people are never satisfied. I am more than sure that if the girls were offering themselves for dance all the time the guys would have commented that they are pushy and slu**y. So what I ask you is: Do you think that people are getting pickier every day and that they are never satisfied? If someone approaches them then they think that someone is pushy and easy while when nobody approaches them they think people are boring and not interesting? Have the rules of seduction changed? Are there any rules at all?
