It's not a new decade.

I've had it up to my eyebrows with the commentators mentioning 2010 as being the start of a new decade. So, here's a simple reminder. A decade is ten of something, not nine. When counting out a decade, it is proper to start with the number one, not zero. When the number ten is reached, then one has reached the end of the decade. The next decade then begins with the number eleven, and continues until one reaches the number twenty. Twenty-one through thirty comprises the next decade, and so on. The century mark, by the way, ends with one hundred, not ninety-nine. And a millennium ends with one thousand, not nine hundred ninety-nine. This goes for whether one is counting beans, beads, or years. Just food for thought.

Again, it has to do with how one counts. A century is one hundred, and one always starts with the number one, and ends with the number 100. For example:
The First Century A.D. Started with the year 1 A.D., and ended with the year 100 A.D.
Let me illustrate this: 1-100=the first century. (The first one hundred of whatever is being counted) 101-200 id the second century, 201-300 is the third, 301-400 is the fourth, 401-500 is the fifth, 501-600 is the sixth, 601-700 is the seventh, 701-800 is the eight, 801-900 is the ninth, 901-1,000 is the tenth, and so on. In other words, one counts the century as a whole, and each year, tomato, or whatever is being counted is 1% of said century. So the year 1901-2000 is the twentieth century, because it's counted as a whole, and if you start from the first century (years 1-101), then when you get to 20 centuries, you'll be including the years 1901-200 as parts of the whole century, with the year 2000 being the final part.

lol, I know what you mean.. It sounds so rediculous...
And why we have been saying Two Thousand 1 .. Two thousand 2...
instead of Twenty one.. or Twenty .. sounds silly..
when it was 1900 and 1901 they said 19 hundren.. then 19 "o" 1 ..
then came 19 .. ten lol..
The news, commentators, Speculators.. and news in general lately is not worth watching or listening to much.. Even the ball drop the media people have to ramble all the way through it they can not be quiet enough to allow people to witness the story for themselves... or even think for themselves at times..
Good food, and good thoughts! I agree with ya :) .
