Anybody collecting vinyl (records and albums)? Which artists?

My daughters came across one of my old LP's and asked what it was. Seeing a teaching moment, I told them about turntables (what's THAT, dad?). But then I said how we would put a needle onto this spinning piece of vinyl and one - - with horror in her eyes asked me... you would put a needle on it ... on PURPOSE? Anybody who knows how vinyl records work ... 33's, 45's or 78's... please write in and send me a friend request and/or reply here and let me know if you are collecting vinyl. Thanks, folks...

I don't collect them really but I have held onto mine, mostly for sentimental reasons I guess. Your discussion made me think about when we moved into this house, our youngest was only about 6 years old and when he saw the stack of albums, he wanted to know where we kept the cd player that they fit in. I haven't played them in years because I can't locate a needle for the old turntable we have in the basement.

Thanks for the idea lamb, I'll do that..I didn't think I would ever hear music coming from this old Kenwood again, it would be nice to hear my old Black Sabbath albums again.

I wouldn't say I'm collecting vinyl, but I still have all the records I bought in the '60s and '70s when they were pretty much the only medium there was for music. (Shamefully, I also still have a number of 8-track tapes that I keep holding on to... maybe I'm hoping a Museum of Outdated Technology will call me and offer me money to add them to their collection? LOL...) I still have two turntables, though neither has been connected in years.
