How good and trustworthy you feel "Online Friendship"?

Online Relationships - In this age of social networking, Microblogging, Blog writing and Internet Chatting we meet with several people in internet who are from different parts of this world and of different kinds. Its also quite common to become good friends with them, and also in many cases falling in love with chatmate. In earlier days, love and relationships limited within the local surroundings within our reach. But now in this digital internet age, that limit has been taken away by IM's and social networking sites expanding our relationship chances to global. Now love and relationships go Digital :)

Today, its quite common to have online friends through Instant Messengers, Social networking sites and Disucsion forums in internet. Like in our real surrounding, there are many people of different types in internet. There are good people, kind hearted, loving and caring, scams, spammers, friendly and every common type. So, how could it be possible for us to determine a person whom we meet online is good or bad? Is online relationships good or bad in our current lifestyle of Internet? If it is good, how can we evaluate it is trustworthy or not? - Jithin :)

been there done that. i have a lot of online friends, i gotta say, sometimes i prefer to talk to them. but online relationships is really hard and most of the time it doesn't work. if you want to date someone you only knew online then it would be best to meet him/her in person in public places. don't give private infos about yourself.
