Typhoons, Floods, Landslides and even Tornado shattered the Philippines the past year. So many houses, properties and lives lost. Rice plantation, food crops were destroyed. giving hunger to some. Fires, sinking of ships, passenger bus road mishaps were at the headlines always. Fires razed residential areas one after the other. At one time a fire burst while the houses were still underwater, leaving the residents totally homeless. Volcano eruption also happened forcing the people to stay at the evacuation centers. People were still grieving, when Christmas time came. They don't know how to celebrate Christmas without their loved ones while those who were at the evacuation centers spent their Christmas together with the relief goods. To add more, the most shocking, the Magindanao Massacre. I prayed very hard to God these won't happen again. That there would be no more disasters and tragedies for 2010.

I am also wishing that these would not happen again. The last quarter of the year did bring lots of these disasters that even at the very last day of the year there is a volcano that is on the brink of a major eruption. Fortunately alert level was lowered already and hopefully the volcano would not continue to erupt anymore. With regards to the flooding I really hope that there would not be a flood like that again. Ondoy had brought too much sorrow and loss to many Luzon residents especially here in Metro Manila which got caught unprepared to face this kind of flooding.

Yes AGV I'm glad we got over those hardships, so far we had a good start of 2010 though we're starting to experience the heat of summer. This time we must be prepared of necessary precautions and more for fire preventions. Thanks for the response...Have a good day

It's true, the circumstances around such events can be very difficult and there is a great need for people who have first aid and CPR training to help respond to needs until more developed efforts can be organized and put into action. http://www.lifesavercpr.net

We could only hope and pray for the good tidings to be with us and our country this 2010. But aside from hoping and praying, it will also help if we do the right things to get rid of avoidable calamities. For example, the flooding could have been avoided if have not neglected caring for our mountains and stopped building houses on the waterways. Some fires could have been prevented if we always check our electrical appliances or followed safety tips. Those sea tragedies happening during the Christmas season may have not happened if overloading is a BIG NO and vigilance from the vessel people is always in practice.

Predictions by Pag-asa shows that there is a possibility of a el nino phenomenon this coming summer. Or we will have a longer and hotter summer. That means shortages of water supply in NCR and the more frequent brown-outs. The news tells us that the temperature of the Pacific ocean will be more colder which means that the process of evaporation will be much lesser and in return will have a hotter temperature here in the Philippines. Better to prepare ourselves for the worst case than hoping that it will not happen.

Right Fulltank we have to be prepared for this, Last year was already a very hot summer how much more this time having an el nino phenomenon, in case. So many of our people are suffering from hypertension including me, for sure it would be very hard for us bearing this hot summer. Same with our poor farmers, what will happen to their plants again? Thanks for the info Fulltank, thanks for responding...
