Converting Video files Question on a Mac

This question is for a Imac Computer. I need help converting a MOV file format which is quicktime format to AVI format. Everytime I convert it from MOV to AVI It changes the view from Vertical to Horizonal and I just cant have that. Im using FLV Crunch which is Freeware. anyone know how I can correct this problem. I am going crazy.
