I love drinking this chocolate drink mix. It is is packed with essential vitamins and minerals that is great for ones overall health. I had some this morning. I did use fat free milk in mines. It was very delicious. I have found this to be the best nutritional chocolate drink that I can ever drink. Have you tried this before and if so, do you like it?

Wow, I use to drink this all the time, plus a drink called Postum. They don't make Postum anymore and I really liked it as an alternative to coffee. I can't think of why I stopped drinking Ovaltine. Maybe next time I go shopping I'll buy some since there are so many vitamins and minerals in it. I drink way toooo much coffee all day so I think it's time for me to switch, and I like the flavor of Ovaltine too. Thanks for reminding me of this!

I like to add more milk powder and a bit of nestle coffee to milo. People here call this beverage by the name of neslo. It’s a combined words of nestle coffee plus milo. We can order in any of the ordinary coffee shops here by mentioning this name. Ovaltine is not so popular among the people here. Therefore I could hardly find any ovaltine served in the coffee shop here. Anyway I would be glad to try to order a cup of ovaltine coffee mix if I happen to visit any coffee shops here, for I haven’t tasted ovaltine for quite some time.

Hi Cream,
Oh great, now I'm going to just have to add this to my grocery list! I have not had Ovaltine for years and yes, I do love it. I'm a big coffee drinker but I did used to drink this at night. It's great heated up like cocoa. My kids also used to love it. I don't know why I stopped picking it up but to be honest, until I saw this discussion I had not even given it a thought. I am going to the store in a bit anyway so I'm going to pick some up. Thanks, Cream!

Well, I got some and after running a ton of errands this afternoon I was chilled to the bone. I've had more than enough coffee so this was just perfect! I'm not a big fan of real sweet things and the ovaltine seems a little less sweet than cocoa. It has that nutty taste and as you mentioned, it is healthier for you. Love it!

Hi, sid556. You are very welcome! I had the chocolate flavor just the other day and I had mines hot. I heated it up in the microwave. And it was very delicious! I am going to drink it cold in a few minutes from now. I like it either way, it just all depend on my mood.

I remember drinking Ovaltine when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. This must be the new and improved version? I think I will definitely give it a try.
Lately I've been buying Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate. I like it because you don't have to add milk. Just water and put in the microwave.

with ovaltine you can also just use water, its just not as healthy or thick as it would be with milk. My mom always told me you had to use milk also until i read the label. I tried it with water because that is all i had at the time and wasn't bad and same here *microwave. :))

Yeah cream, I had tried to stir hot ovaltine together with chocolate before. It’s really delicious. This happened when my husband’s brother in law visited us few years back. He loved ovaltine but we preferred milo therefore we didn’t have any stock in our kitchen cabinet. He bought home ovaltine and chocolate after visiting the nearby hypermarket later.
I tried to add a couple teaspoons of chocolate to ovaltine as I felt that ovaltine was rather subtle compared to that of milo. Therefore I tried to mix both ovaltine and chocolate in a cup of hot water. Yeah, it's really delicious. I found the maxture would be very much yummy if a half teaspoon of plain coffee powder and some milk powder were added to it. I did't prepare this anymore since here was non ovaltine left. but the chocolate is still available there. At present I enjoy having milo and coffee mix
Have a nice day and happy posting

Hiya cream. I love Ovaltine! But just the rich chocolate stuff. I'm not into the malt. LOL
It's funny, I grew up on Nestle Quik and thought I preferred it. For years I wanted nothing to do with Ovaltine. But after my husband convinced me to try it I love it. Don't get me wrong, I still like Quik, I just like Ovaltine better! LOL
Happy mylotting!

Hi sacmom. That is how I felt about Ovaltine too. And my grandmother used to drink this. I thought that it was for much older people. So, that is why I never used to drink any of it. Once I tried it, I was utterly hooked! I love Nestle Quik too. I love mixing the strawberry flavor. It taste just like a strawberry milkshake. And on the flavor, it is a milkshake.

Hi, scarlet_woman. The more mixture you add to it the more chocolatey that it will taste. I have put about 3 cups of milk into my cup and I have added the mixture, and it tasted like it had a good bit of chocolate in it. I don't use the 8oz water or milk. I have more than this in my cup.

I've heard of Ovaltine, but I've never had it before, things like that have sugar in them, so therefore I don't buy them. It sounds delicious tho..

Hi, walijo2008. You can always try the fat free kind. It is in the flavor of a malt taste. And you can always try using fat free milk or 1% milk that way the taste of the sugar will be diminished. If you are an Diabetic, then it may be different for you.

Yes, I drink it and love it. I especially try to get the healthier things for my son (even though he don't know it) haha. I actually have some in my cabinet but lately I have been with my hot tea, I do have marshamallows so I will go and make some hot cocoa out of my ovaltine...thanks....:))

I have never tried it before, I have heard of it before but have never attempted to buy it and try it. My kids do like chocolate milk and I will usually do the nesquik brand but we don't do it very often but this may be something that I can try for them in exchange...

I've loved Ovaltine for years...guilt free chocolate milk! Not too long ago I offered some to my grandsons who had never had it before and they love it, too. My husband doesn't particularly care for it but he's not a big fan of chocolate milk anyway...he likes his milk plain.

Hi cream, just the very thought of ovaltine makes me shiver. Actually I've never tried any packet drink mixes. Sometimes when its very cold I make hot chocolate but not so far this winter. I've been indulging as I had a bag of real Turkish coffee given to me yesterday and its the best thing I've tasted in months.

I remember drinking Ovaltine when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I don't remember particularly liking it. I think there was another brand that we settled into because this other brand we could eat using spoon direct from the jar. And I think the reason we did that was that we didn't get to have chocolates before. The kids today have lots of chocolates to chose from, so they never did experience eating powdered chocolate.

Hi, Latalia. Oh yes it does. I love using 2% milk to mix any of my powdered drink mixes up. It is very delicious. I even use, 2% milk in my cereal too. I can't use fat free milk, it will taste nasty. I only use 2% milk for my cereal and 1% and fat free milk for my drinking purposes.

Hi cream!
I am not from the US but we have Ovaltine here in the Philippines. Only it's the one with the malt. Its main competitor, called Milo, is more popular here I guess. I personally prefer Milo (a chocolate malt drink as well); I could eat it as it is, because I find Ovaltine a little too much sweet. Maybe because I am talking about a different Ovaltine here. You are talking about the pure chocolate drink, right? I don't think we have it here. I guess if I have a taste of that I'd be able to know how you feel about it.

We have both the chocolate and the malt flavor here in the USA. I really don't care for the malt flavor. It tastes kind of like a fat free flavor. I may drink this every blue moon. I prefer the chocolate flavor. I usually will use fat free milk to mix my chocolate mix in.

I love Ovaltine drinking Ovaltine choco malt every morning, that is, when I was 5. :) Switched to Milo growing up cause I found it much creamier than Ovaltine. but I still munch on them Ovalteenies once in a while. lol. Now, I stick to homemade hot chocolate. :))
