There are a great many differences between rugby and football, but the most obvious is that in rugby the players handle the ball with their hands, while this is forbidden in football (or soccer). Rugby has more players per team, (15 compared to 11), have scrums (where the forwards on each team push against each other as a group), have different kinds of goals - there are no goalies in rugby, for instance. Players kick a ball over the goalpost in rugby, but in football they have to kick into a large net. The differences are so many, I'm surprised you could think they were the same!

You'll have to catch up with them on television. The Rugby World Cup is widely shown on tv.

Rugby is completely different from football. Theres intended contact in rugby unlike soccer. However in rugby you can kick the ball whenever you want, but it's a reat risk. I find that watching rugby more entertaining than football. The big hits, excellent plays and the quick pace of rugby has taken my interest. I suggest you watch some videos from youtube.

There is also American football which is completely different from soccer, and more like rugby, just more physicall. Much more padded and helmets and stuff, where rugby has minimal padding.
