Did Michael Jackson dye is skin?

Before around 1985 Michael Jackson had dark skin. But, around his "Bad" era his skin began changing color and actually turned white. He blamed it on a skin condition, but in the past people have said that he wanted to be white, but was born an African American. I do not know if Michael Jackson did dye his skin, so that is why I am asking you.
