I just read a news that a criminal on the run was arrested because of his addiction to WoW~!! that's kind of crazy! the reason he was caught because his ip address and his billing address from Blizzard sold him off...and was search with Google map! unbelievable? another use of internet!!! catching criminal!! but i thought while signing up for an online game, the term and condition has guaranteed that our information will not be used in any other way than for the gaming purposes!?!?!! i'm not defending for the criminal...because he deserved what he had done, but isn't that violating our agreement from the game company? i would sue the game company and cover the penalty fined by the government!!!

I just read World of Warcraft's terms and conditions. It's under Acknowledgments and it says Blizzard has the right to disclose any user's IP address, chat logs, personal information, and other information in response to a request by a law enforcer, a court order, or other legal process. Hope this clears the confusion.

Here! Here! I think it's rediculous that if I want to play on another server I've got to cough up 25 bucks! On top of that I switched to Horde so that's another 30!

I would think that if the law enforcement had a court order than Blizzard would have to release the records...glad the criminal got caught!

yes man you are right, the Bizzard company should be sued for breach of agreement. Many online gaming companies share our personal information to other for some type of gains other than the matter you have mentioned.

The criminal case had nothing to do with WoW - it just so happens (coincidentally) that the guy plays WoW - and WoW has cooperated with Local authorities to apprehend the criminal.

wow... lol. I guess criminals shouldn't play WoW then! I don't know how all the annoying gold farmers get away with it!

Companies like blizzard are only motivated by money. They dont give a toss about customers.
