How often should you change your cat's litter?

I know this sounds like a question I should already know the answer to, but I really don't know the answer. Is it every week, every other, as needed? I just don't know. I only have one cat if this helps anyone.

With only one cat you dont need to change the cat litter everyday. However many cats are very picky about it, like ours. He is an older cat who doesn't like to even use the litter box if there is very much in it. The solution to this is to buy the litter that clumps together when your cat uses the litter box. The waste can then be easily removed from the box, while leaving fresh cat litter still in it. As for changing all the cat litter in the box, It should probably be done about once or twice a week with the right cat litter. With the cheap stuff at least twice a week.

I've been doing it once a week, on the nice before our trash pick up. This definitely reminds me to do it. However, since we only have one cat, I didn't know if we could make it last longer if we add more litter or what. I don't know.
Maybe we could away with this if we get the clumping litter.

I don't have a cat but if I did I know myself I would be changing it everyday. I can't stand smelling disgusting things so to prevent it from happening I would have to change it everyday. If you wait a few days or a week that is going to stink up your apartment/house.

Actually, there's no smell in our house. At least, we've never noticed any smell. The only smell there is is the dry littler smell, but that goes away after the dust settles.

We have one cat, Morgana, and we use Fresh Step litter. I scoop her's about twice a week and change the whole box about every other week. We've never had any kind of odor problem and ppl that don't know we have a cat usually can't tell.

I have three cats and we change their box twice a week. They are pretty clean animals. When we run out of cat litter we use sand, but I would not recommend using it all the time. I would use clump litter because it is easier to clean out.
