...criminals, deseases, all make me think just in death.
I really don t like to watch to news to tv, there i can see just death everywhere; why they make this? I mean who are producers , don t think before let us watch to all this atrocity? When i come home, i want to see intersting news, not just death everywhere, i think that soon i will think just in death, everywhere i can see only accidents, guns, wars, criminals; they want to make us step by step to be scared, to afraid to go out in street, is this something good?
Soon i will give up to watch to tv news, they will lose me as client who watch to all this atrocity.

You just sound like i did few months back.
Almost every news channel is filled with all those rubbish news. Not only that , most channels repeat those news endlessly.Anybody can get irritated.
I suggest you to watch "DD NEWS".The day i started watching this i felt what news is and rest is fuss.

I love watching the news even though it shows nothing but bad news and horror stories! My favourite news channel is sky news. I guess it's nice to see some good news from time to time but it seems that the news channels don't show this anymore! I suppose this can make you all depressed and you want to take a break from it. I sometimes keep the news on in the background whilst I am doing other things! I don't think I would be able to survive without keeping in touch with what is going on in the world! Andrew

Hi, Ice!
One of the first things psychologists and counselors advise for stress is a "vacation" from the news for exactly the reasons you cite. I used to be a total news freak, but it's getting more and more difficult. When I was a working journalist, there were at least occasional breaks from the ugliness. While people do need to know what's going on, we really don't need all the lurid details. They're contributing to the fear, and that's a form of terrorism in itself.

Well I have to agree with you, the news is very depressing. I hate to say it but we live in a society where the most kind of news that gets publicity is BAD news. No one wants to here about how there have been 100 beautiful new children born into the world, or how a grandma helped her grand kids make the best fort in the world. Take heart in knowing that while it might seem like the only kind of news is BAD news, such is not the case. I make it a rule not to dwell to much on the bad things in life and instead concentrate on all the good things instead. Happy Mylotting.

The news is very depressing at times. Very little good news is shown. Unfortunately, that's more because good news does not sell. As much as we would like to think the news would give a balanced view, they are in the television business and thus in the business of ratings. Bad news tends to garner interest, even if it is in a car wreck that you cannot quite look away from manner. A bit harsh but unfortunately true. I wonder why I watch the news many days.

It is really sad to note seeing these thing happening all around us. I always wonder what is happening to the world we live in. How can there be peace. It seems that morality among people has really deteriorated and many are suffering. Well, there is nothing we can do but face this things and pray that hopefully one day this will change.

That is the nature of the news is to let us know what is going around us. But I know what you mean. I have watched the pattern on how the news is set up. They get all the depressing stories out the way, then go to important info like medical, money issues etc, then a feel good story. At least that is how the formula is in my city.

To be honest you should be aware of some of the real dangers out in the world. I know that the television shows depict it harshly and in an image that makes it more interesting to sell movies but there are a lot of bad people out there you will change your life for the worst in a second if you are not aware of your surroundings.
I don't mean to sound too harsh, but your life can can change in a second because of so many different things and that is why we want our loved ones to be aware of the dangers and stay careful with their actions so they don't fall prey to the predators out there. The worse the economy gets the more desperate people will get and who knows what will happen.
There are still very good people in the world you just can't trust strangers as easily as you used to. People have to earn your trust anymore. But don't stop being kind to people because that is the key to solving the problem. Some people have never known kindness and that is why they are the way they are.

This seems to be an unfortunate part of the human condition - being interested in atrocities, gore, and bad news. Could it be that we all crave a vicarious thrill from watching others' misery, or maybe we want to be reminded that our own lives are not that bad by comparison?
Don Henley (lead singer of the Eagles & solo artist) put it best when he sang the song, "Dirty Laundry."Yes, TV quality is horrible! It has gotten worse as each year moves us forward. I am comforted by the recent developement in technological gadgets - being able to choose the TV programs I want to watch & be able to watch them when it's convenient for me. I have recently chosen not to watch TV by randomly flipping through channels. After living with my deaf grandmother for a year who had christian televangelists and news going 24/7 at concert level sound, I decided I had had enough! Internet provides me with all I need to keep up with current news events, and there is the happy bonus of not having to look at or hear the details unless I want to. Hooray for technology!
Plus, most of the news is just plain depressing. If I want to be depressed, I can find something about my own life that does it for me. I don't need outside help for that!

yeah I can see where you are coming from. the news can be depressing and sad, all they show is bad. but have you ever noticed with out these warnings some of us may not even know whats going on in the world. I mean it is really sad, but I like to know if someone is raping someone around my area so my family and I can be safe, or even burglary's, the list can go on. maybe you just aren't watching the right news channel, remember there are so many to watch read, just have to find the right one. I watch CBS I feel like they give the right information, plus they interact with people on the internet during breaks of course, but people ask certain questions and they give there answer or opinion. its good to know these answers sometimes that we can't think of and someone else has. try another channel you may like it better then the other. but remember if there is power, money and racism, there's lots more to it, then we will always be at war with the human race period.

I do agree with you totally. You know the real funny thing about the news is that when my son was sent to Iraq for a year, the one thing he told me before he left was to NOT watch the news. He said it was inaccurate for one thing and would just cause me to worry for another. I do not know what idiot thinks we want to hear all this negative stuff....I want to hear about the actor who toured a VA hospital and then wrote a check for the total cost of another one to be built....Or the missing child that was found safe....or how people got together and helped build a house for someone who did not have one. There is so much good in the world but we rarely hear it on the news... Maybe if we all stopped watching, the networks would get a clue. Have a great day!

Hey, come over to watch the most authoritative News Channel CCTV1 in China, then you understand how thing work here, extremely rediculous. One day i head it from my friend that CCTV1 news broadcasting only talks about three things:
1' How hilarious citizens are around the country, how great their life has improved
2' How harmounious people are when gov dogs go over there to coomunicate
3' How great is that we have made huge step forward in XX field.
Then i went through a thorough reflection, her point hits the point to the core. Things work more or less the same, except that we talk more about the shinning side of society.

Well, it's not really good to watch like those kind of news but we cannot deny the fact because that's the real happening everywhere. Nobody wanted to have that events happened to our world. But have you not realized that the cause of those events are people also? that is why we need to be vigilant and extra careful in everything that we do so that we can have a peaceful world to live in.

You are so right! Generally television is, if not boring, full of violence. I don't like it at all when I come to watch such news or movies. But there are also some channels that deserve attention. I feel relaxed when I watch films about animal rescue, for example. There are also comedy channels, at least in the country where I live, or music channels. You can watch them after the atrocities to have a good sleep. But if you want to watch the news, you have to stand the reality.

Well, as a medium, it is its job to let you inform what is happening around the globe. So, tell me, if there is no television, how would you know that there is a spreading disease like the H1N1? You might come out biting your tongue about why didn't you switch on and watch the television.
Face the reality, television helps you to see how cruel the world is.
