yep, that's me. we have been having some really cold weather & i have been staying in the house. Weather predictionds for tomorrow are even worse, up to 5 inches of snow & even colder weather. so this ol' hibernating bear has got to get out & get a few groceries in bad as i hate to. I know u people up north are going to think i'm silly w/all the snow & bad weather y'all have had but 5 inches of snow in TENNESSEE is alot . Anybody else been hibernating??

I wish I could hibernate right along with you Jo but I have been out in this freezing stuff everyday. I know it sounds like we are silly but we aren't used to this stuff...lol. I hate it! I would like to be somewhere warm in the winter and then come back in the summer.

I have to be out everyday, related to my job. I am so overworked by this job that I am going to be job hunting while I am off work for foot surgery. I worked twenty six hours in two days over New Years, and I am salaried, I do not earn extra for it.

Thanks goodness I am not on salary. We just finished our physical inventory which put me on 13 hours a day for three days. I usually work 6 days a week. If I were on salary..I would be hunting another job too. I hate to hear you have to have surgery. Take care.

Hi Antiquelady,
I am in New England and it is so so cold here. I don't mind the snow at all. In fact I kind of like it. It is this bitter cold that really gets to me. I wish I could hibernate. I've had the past two days off from work and I do have plenty of food and things in the house but I also have a 15 yr old that does things like goes for a walk insisting that it is not that cold and gets 15 mins from home and decides that it is in fact "that cold" and calls for a ride. I don't have the heart to say no to her. I also have a daughter that lives across town that does not have a car. I'd rather be cold for the few minutes it takes to zip over and give her a ride than to imagine her walking across town to where she works. Still, if I could I would hibernate in my cozy little apartment till it warmed up a bit.

It's all a matter of relativity. Here in south central Texas we have been having unusually cold weather, too. We have had several hard freezes in a row (28 degrees just this morning), and temperatures in the teens are predicted for the end of the week. Some stores have sold out of those caps to put on outside faucets to keep them from freezing. Pipe insulation has been flying off the shelves. My husband has had all outside faucets wrapped for weeks. Today he started our generator to make sure it would run should we experience a power outage. He's from northern Kentucky, so he knows to be prepared. We are all set not and are not going anywhere unless it is absolutely necessary.

It is so cold here in England at the moment,we are expecting a foot of snow over night more than we had just before christmas. It is the worst cold snap for thirty years at the moment with it forcast for another week.So I am hibernating as well ,plenty of hot drinks and keeping warm.At least we have this to keep us connected to the outside world. So it is not all so bad after all, keep warm from Suexx

Good morning sue, U are having a terrible time w/your arms. It's not good to be armless. It is 14 degrees here i just called to see. The snow is not suppose to come till midnight tonite. I just hate snow, if it didn't make the roads bad i wouldn't dislike it so. Worry about my kids & other people having to drive on it.I just heard on the news where a school bus & a car had a bad wreck about 60 miles from here . I don't know whether it was weather related or not. The paper said we hadn't had a cold spell like this since 2003 but since i have no memory, lol i don't remember the details then. I hope u don't have to get out in the cold & can hibernate like me, Have a great wed., sue. hugs. jo

It is too cold to run away from home Jo.We only got about 3inches so far.The snow is coming though from the North and South West both directions it is on its way right to the corner of kent.We are right down the bottom of England, the rest of the country is already covered poor things. We are getting the full wammy about midday,It is like one of those disaster movies you know its coming and there is no where to run.A bit dramatic but that what it feels like.We had a lot in the weeks running up to christmas and I fell over and cut my hand.Just as the rsi was getting better in the other arm ,so I guess you could say i was armless.Still made my mince pies and did my christmas baking. The baking may have took a long painful journey but it was enjoyed by one and all so it was worth it.The last time we had a bad spell of weather like this was back in the sixties and I can remember peering out of the window on tip toes and seeing all the white.I cannot remember the schools shutting though we sat and shivered in our coats, with oil heaters in the class room.Maybe we were tougher in those days without all this health and safety rubbish.Mind you if the snow is as bad as before the buses don't run so David will not be able to get there anyway. Thanks for the chat love sue.xx

Bout time Tenn got back to having snow! I remeber one year there in might have been 67 we got 12 inches of snow in a few hours and I had to drive 30 miles on old dirt roads to get us home to nothing but a fire place to keep us warm after they got it started.

I am with you Anti.. Hibernating like an Ol' bear. Now that I am not working I try not to get out in this cold weather. It has been colder than normal here in the south. I just don't like freezing cold weather and I am taking advantage of the fact that I don't have to get out in it. We are suppose to get some snow flurries starting Wednesday night into Thursday. I need to go to store myself but debating about it. Hibernating is the word for me too.

Hi Aunty, hibernating sounds like the best thing to do in weather like that. Won't the grocery deliver if the snow is bad, or Ryan's dad pick up your shopping for you. Don't want you falling over in the snow.
No hibernating here, as yet. It's turning into a mild winter for once and hasn't even rained over the holidays. In fact I'll probably take Hugo to play on the beach tomorrow as it's a special holiday here, but he's already declared he doesn't want to go to the harbour at 9am to jump into the sea as tradition has it, says he'd prefer a lie in.

Thanks for your concern. I really don't know whether the groceries here deliver or not. I want to do it as long as i can. My son would go for me i'm sure if i ask him but i wouldn't do that unless it was an emergency. Thanks for your response. Tell hugo hello & y'all take care.

I wish I could. Sadly, life demands that I get out of bed. Cure up under several blankets and just stay in bed all day. It can be a trial to get myself out of bed on such days. Somehow I manage it but there are some days where I would just like to stay in bed and wait out the worst of the winter.

yeah it is really cold, we don't have much of snow, but the weather is dropping to degrees of 10 and below for night time, and during the day its like 20 to max 40. to go outside takes your breathe away. I live one hour west of Albany new york. sometimes its isn't too cold, but for some reason like most of us on the eastern side feeling the major of weather destruction lightly. yeah I can't help to want to stay home. so cold to go out and isn't comfortable.

I've been fighting a cold, so I haven't been on mylot too much. I haven't done much of anything, and that includes sleep. Can't sleep lying down, sitting up...we're going to get some more cold weather, but to my knowledge, no more snow. We still have snow on the ground that hasn't melted since the blizzard we had around Christmas.

Hi, Jo! If you have about 5 inches of snow on the ground right now, then you have us beat up here in Southern Michigan. We have about 3 or 4. The temperatures are really low (single digits this week) so it's pretty cold here. I get into the hibernating mood too. In fact, I even get depression when the sun disappears in the winter like this. I was just starting to feel low about an hour ago, when my husband suggested that we go to Wendy's for lunch today. Just got back and I'm feeling much better!
Take care of yourself, "Ol Hibernating Bear"! :)

Well, from one old bear to another, I've been doing the same thing here in Michigan. Prepare yourself, as there is another big snow storm due to hit Thursday, I believe it is, and it will reach clear down into upper Louisiana. Even FL will feel the chill, if not the snow.
And yes, I have been hibernating, too, with my pc, my books, my journals, and my knitting. And it's perfect weather for those of us who love to make crock pot stews and one pot dinners for sustenance :)

No, not here in OKlahoma, but wanna talk about Montana ? LOL
They've had over a foot and a half of snow since I left that I know of.
Iam soooooooooo glad I am not there anymore to endure that plowing.
And, talk about cold temps ! They've only had a few days of weather of over ZERO in two months.
But, you stay in and enjoy your heat :)
