Mylot is the replica of the real world where its members represent all the races in the world to form a united mylotters. It is not surprising to find people with various professional careers joining the fun in mylot. In my long association with this site I have the privilege to meet doctors, lawyers, businessmen, writers, architects, engineers etc..you name it, they are all here. I once had a friend here who is a chef and he willingly shared a lot of tips on cooking which of course is of great help to me in my passion for cooking. Unfortunately, he did not stay long and left without any clue of leaving this site. He might not have much interest in the literal world but his short stint here did help me a lot adding my knowledge on foreign cuisines.
I am no professional myself but having met and interact with some of these learned people here have made me a little smarter than before as I read and learn from them bit by bit over the years. I can be mistaken for someone who have an intellect mind and from this bracket of professional people. But no I am just a plain jane that have a great capacity of absorbing what ever I read from the discussions here. It would have taken me few years of college attendance to earn the knowledge that I gained from this site. I am just curious to know what is your professional background and what drive you to this site?

Hi Zandi, I am ‘plain jane’ too. I finished High School and went straight into my first job with an airline company, travelled overseas for a long time and joined a bank where I worked for what seemed a life time! I did not enjoy bank work at all but could not find any other jobs because that was all the experience I had. I eventually managed a change of employment with a health insurance company where I stayed until I fell pregnant and left. I started my own cleaning business when my daughter turned four and did a freelance journalism course and from there followed my passion for writing which was a driving force towards finding MyLot. I am still to make a lot of money though!

Thank you for coming up to my discussion. It is a great job you are doing and handling a large important department is not easy I suppose. You are the man responsible for the sales of the factory products. The profitability of the company lies in your expertise.

I am a retired primary school teacher. I have a diploma and a degree. I taught for 22 years before givinng it up.
I became a homemaker. In febrauray I am starting a course of bering a tax agent assistant.
Further education itself does not necessarily make one a person more aware and receptive.
There are plenty of people who have not had further education and are very intelligent.
I joined My Lot initially to earn money, but as time went on, I realised that the interaction with people was what makes this site great.
I agree with you about how much can be learnt here.

A teacher is a noble profession. I am not surprise now by your eloquent writing as you have so much of experience in being a teacher. I have many teachers in my family starting from my late grandfather who was a school principle, mom was a temporary teacher, my sister is a language lecturer and a sister is lecturing in IT in Adelaide and I had been teaching shorthand (secretarial) for few years in the 80s.

Good morning Zandi, i agree w/u mylot is a great place for knowledge. I am always learning something new on here & i like to do that.I was a hairdresser for 47 years, had an antique shop along w/my beauty shop. I nearly always worked 2 jobs, was a single mom & did what i had to to make a living for my boys & myself. U do what u have to do .unlike people nowadays that sit on their buttes & get all the freebies they can, they are disgusting to me, sorry.

You are an experienced hairdresser with 47 years of experience behind you. This is not a short period of time to be in one job. You should have open a school of hairdressing to share your expertise. May I ask you something...is it advisable to wash the hair everyday?

It was alot of years for sure. It really depends on what type of hair u have, Zandi. if your tends to be dry washing every day can dry it out more. washing your hair w/good products means alot to your hair. if u do wash everyday u should use a good shampoo & conditioner. There is a world of difference in salon products & what u buy at wal-mart or somewhere like that.

Systems analyst, health insurance, I support my company's billing and broker systems. I work with programmers and internal customers to improve the system, keep it up with regulations, etc.
What got me to myLot was a chain of events starting with Multiply, which is where I have my family photos. A friend from there referred me to Yuwie and a friend from there referred me here.

Hello Zandi.
I have a college degree In International Economic Relationships and i am currently studying to get my master degree in International Business Management.
I have worked in a few places, but only as part time so far, like cashier, flier distributor.
I have learned a lot from the internet and from mylot and i don't doubt what you said about learning here what would take years - the thing is you don't learn only necessary thing in college, most of them you won't use anyway, but they still are present for us to study.
Take care !

College education and degrees are our assets and what we gained here is something we might not be able to reach elsewhere in a short span of time as this is where we interact with multi racial people from all over the world. They share their knowledge with us which add up to our knowledge bank.

I have had several professions during my working years. But I have always worked with people and documentation. The law has also been a great part of my profession.
But at this time i am working on Spirit, Health and Peace so if you can come up with a title that fits these you can give me a title of my current profession.

Hi there, this topic is a good one and you are right, there are different kinds of people who are here in mylot, not only by nationality but also by profession, it is true that you will learn a lot from them especially when they started a topic in relation about their profession. Just like you, i also learn a lot from them, aside from my profession i am happy that i gained much knowledge on many things from this site.
I am a Psychologists and at the same time guidance counselor, but i do not limit myself to those field only, i also do writing, if i have free time i practice my musical skills, i am also a computer technician uhmm, i acquired this skill from my friends and now i am one of them, i am also a research consultant and at the same time HR consultant. Aside from those, just like what i have told you earlier, i do not limit myself to things that i know only but i am still looking learn new skills that i can use in the near future and to further make myself a human being that can be a contributory citizen of the society until my last breath.
Have a great day and thank you so much for putting up this very good topic.!

I am a Commercial Apiarist who skipped high school and attended a 2 year agricultural course, from which I graduated in 1951 with a diploma. I have been keeping honeybees for over 30 years. Interestingly enough, there were no honeybees at the Agricultural School. When I first began to keep bees I helped several new beekeepers to get started in the business. At this time however, my advise to anyone who is interested in Apiculture is to stop and desist. Honeybees world-wide, are an endangered species, where unsustainable 30% winter losses are common. Unless there is a rapid movement toward natural pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides in our food, lawn, garden, and agricultural sectors, honeybees are doomed to extinction.
