I've never had a nickname, although I have a friend who constantly tries to give me one. I usually don't answer when she uses it though, 'cause it's not me. And it's not as if my real name is very long or difficult to say, at least not for other Norwegian.

Hi Torunn: That's exactly what happened to me. In my housr, my brother tries to put me a nickname but i have never answer his calls until he call me by my real name. I think i am too serious but I don't like that people put me nicknames. An abreviation of my real name is ok but nicknames are not for me. Thanks for your answer Torunn. Hope you are having a nice day. Happy New Year and keep Mylotting. Take Care. -Alvaro.

Hi karthi_88, I am a Chinese. My parents and relatives call me in my Chinese last name. My last name consists of two words. Some Chinese people may have only one word or more than two as their last name. My friends usually call my English name. Chinese people who were born in Hong Kong usually have an English name, as we need it in school and sometimes at work, too. English names usually are easier for people to remember, so it become popular in use. Have a nice day! agonyaunt69 (1:32am 7 Jan 2010, Hong Kong time)

Oh! I am sorry. Correction: I mean "first name" not "last name". My parents and relatives like calling my first name and my first name consists of 2 Chinese words. Some Chinese people may have only one word or more than two as their first name. I am sorry. As the sequence of words in a Chinese name is just opposite to the English name, so I got mixed up sometimes. Forgive me!!! :)

My name is short, only of 6 characters and 3 syllables, but still people wanna shorten my name. It has been a habit for people to call somebody by short names, as it is easy and sometimes, friendly. I like calling others by short names, so I dont bother, them calling me so.

my friends or my family never called me with full name, but at the checkout people call me with full name. I do not like the long names, because eventually not on call.

If anyone calls me anything other than Sandra, I won't respond. That's my name, and I don't like it being shortened to Sandy or something similar. It's the same with my children, but I think I'm the only one who doesn't shorten their names.

Hi karthi Well most of the persons that are not of my family called me Chati(my nickname since a long time). My family do call me by my name (Eduardo), i think my mom is the only one that abbreviate it.

Hi karthi: My name is Alvaro Augusto but people usually call me by my first name and only my mum and dad call me by my full name, it's natural because when you have enough confidence with your friend is reasonable that they would call you with your short name and for me it's just normal. Thanks for asking us this question. Hope you are having a nice day. Happy New Year and keep Mylotting. Take Care. -Alvaro.

HI! Nobody calls my at my full name, just because there is somethink like a tradition here, people who have names like mine, not to be called at their full names. Only people, who don't respect me, call me at my full name, and that is true!

My name is not very short nor too long. So one can call me as one pleases. Very close friends of mine back in school used to shorten my name, and I quite liked it and now in college people call me by my full name, and this is also fine. But my name is a pure Bengali name so difficult to pronounce by all and I hate it when people mispronounce it so there are a few non-Bengali friends of mine who have again shortened it! So its cool either way!

I have a norm when it comes to anyone addressing me. The formal people will add a Mrs next to my surname. The not so formal but not familiar either will call me by my name and surname. Those familiar will address me by my first name and those very close with my pet name.

No, they call me by my nick name. I think it is very awkward when calling full names not in proper places like outdoors, normal activities you are in. Too long and catch gaining. I would accept my name be called for some occasions like graduations, legal matters, presentations needed only but not in ordinary way of life.
