I completley agree with you. The bench strength needs to be tested every now and then. What happens in India is that the bench strength is very rarely tested. Only when seniors and permanent features and those on whom Team India depends a lot, in the team like Sachin, Dravid, Dhoni, Sehwag or Yuvraj are either injured or are banned only then do we call back ups. Tyagi is one player whom I have only heard of. I do not even know his first name. Dinesh Kartik was included in the series against Sri Lanka last month, only because of the fact that Dhoni was handed a two match ban. And if a player like Kartik, or anyone for that matter, is likely to take pressure and fumble. We have not seen players like Robin Uttappa for a long time now. Rohit Sharma is one guy who seems to be warming the bench. Even Suresh Raina has not been able to cement his place in the team. Have a look at Australia. They are not the numbe one team for nothing. I remember in their cycle, they made even Hayden sit out when he was scoring heavily for Australia. And his alternate player too did good for Australia. That might be because, they are always giving chances for all. India on the other hand sticks to some players like a glue or like a magnet, which at the end of the day does no good to their progress. I think, players like Dinda, Tyagi, Mishra etc. should be members of the national team. Failures are a part of any game. Even Sachin has had many. But I think for players like just mentioned the BCCI should be patient.
