Anyone notice that June 3rd has had lots of significance on Gilmore Girls? Most fans know that June 3rd is the day that Luke & Lorelai were supposed to get married. The "perfect day" that everything fell into place in the episode "The Perfect Dress" but do fans realize it is also the day of Rory's court date for stealing the boat. It's discussed in the episode where Lorelai picks her up from jail--ironically the same episode that Lorelai & Luke got engaged. Wonder if it is a coincidence or if there is some special significance of the date for Amy Sherman Palladino.

I was a huge fan of Gilmore Girls ... until the last season. It just wasn't good any more. I have the first six seasons on DVD and I love to watch them all over and over again.
I remember the perfect day for the wedding, but never noticed it for anything else.

Guess I just watch the show in syndication too much and all those dates have just stuck in my head or that I just don't forget anything. Gilmore Girls is one of my all time favorite shows, but I don't have the DVDS. I'm anxiously hoping there will be a movie--it apparently hasn't been ruled out yet, so I guess I'll just have to keep waiting patiently until it is. I waited patiently and a SATC movie happened & a sequel! So anything is possible!

That is very interesting. It also made me wonder what day was Rory's graduations. Wouldn't graduations be pretty close to the timeframe of June 3rd. It just made me think if more events on the show were tied into June 3rd and we just did not recognize it. Or maybe more June 3rd was a day of bad things to come if you take a more pesimistic view of them. June 3rd was to be the date of Rory's court date, which we know Loralie did not attend. Then, there was the canceled wedding of June 3rd. So, Gilmore Girls fans what do you think is June 3rd the perfect day or doomesday?

i'm not really observant about dates so i did not notice it but i'm guessing it must have had some significance to amy sherman palladino. i think that there are some hidden details on the show, and this could be one of them. hey, did you know that laine's band name is an anagram for one of the producer's name? helan pai, i think she's amy's best friend. i read it somewhere but i forgot where. hep alien ~ helen pai

I love this programme! it reminds me of my relationship with my mum and my mums relationship with my nan! iv never noticed the dates either, it could just be a coincidence, june 3rd rolls of the tongue quite nicely :)
