If have to make the decision whether you're going to control your life or you're going to let this instructor control you and your emotions. Forget the past. There's nothing you can do to change it. Also, forgiveness goes a long way in freeing you from any hold another has over you.

Hello dpalais. I am a teacher and I have discovered that only when the students have a bias for the teachers will they be able to learn well, which is the first step. Then you should be interested in the subject you are interested in. Otherwise, it is hard to say that you will be able to learn the subject well without a good combination of them both. So why not forget about the so-called bad incident with your instructor and focus on your study in the subject he is engaged in? I wish you would find a good resolution for it.

It's definitely not pleasant when we are reminded of bad memories but they are still only memories and are in the past now. I've also had a bad incident with one of my teachers and that memory doesn't generate good feelings. Try to get past that incident and focus on the classes you have now. As time goes on, you'll forget about that incident.

OOH that can present a problem. Are you a bit ill at ease because of a reprimand from the teacher? Maybe something the teacher called you out on, or a bad grade that you feel ashamed about? I'd try to pinpoint exactly why you feel the way you do and try to confront it. If it's something that the teacher did that you felt was wrong, then assess whether it's so wrong that it calls for a principal or dean's instruction! That is to say, if it was abuse then it should be reported. If it was a paper that you felt was misgraded, talk to the instructor about it, or work harder to do better in said class. To learn, you'll need your full attention, so any apprehension at attending the class or classes should be alleviated!

I'm a college student also, and I've had classes where the instructor was terrible. I don't know what your bad incident involves, but if you are still in the class, try focusing on what you need to do to finish the tasks assigned. Don't dwell on what your instructor did, just concentrate on the class material itself. If that doesn't work for you, maybe you school counselor could help you to get out of that class and take it with a different instructor. Don't let this situation keep you from pursuing your education. One bad instructor should not be allowed to ruin your academic career. You CAN be as good a student as YOU want to be. Good luck.

you have to look at it that you are there to learn so take from this instructor what you can learn from him. you dont have to like him.
