I want to share to you one of the 33 letters of a teacher to his students. This letters may not only be intended for the said students but we can learn from it too.
Dear Modesto,
What will I teach you to help you become a better student? What words should i use to make you a good son to your parents? What should i do to make you a good friend to your friends? What will I do that you may show care to those who need caring?
All the good words are already in the Bible. All the best examples of relationship and of caring are already in the Bible. There is no more left for me but to tell you to read the Bible and do everything that the Bible teaches.
Your teacher,
Joe

It depends what sort of age range I am teaching but if i am teaching primary school I would perhaps teach them first about financial management early on so that it will be enculcated in their minds ones they reach adolecent state.. for secondary, I will teach them about the value of their time and motivating them always to reach their goals.

financial matters are also discussed in the Bible. THere are so many verses about it. As to time, let them read Ecclesiastes 3.

Psalm 90:10-12 are good verses as to the issue of time. This verses teaches us to number our days for our life is very short. It is only 70 years and it says that if it be extended, the extended days are troublesome and sorrow.

Hi joseph_jedidiah, you give an generate thing on how to teach a student, but as you know I was interested in Geography when I was in junior school and desired to be a teacher to tell different tribes and different scenes to my students, furthermore if there was an opportunity I would lead students to navigate the secrets of earth.

Thanks joseph_jedidiah, in that time I liked military too, and always assigned troops and directed their parade directions on a fake map I drawed with mountains, rivers, diserts and plains, that made me a lot of fun to imaginate my troops were brave and never be defeated.

I was able to appreciate geography when i was presented with the facts which countries were evangelized first. The silk road in China to Rome was a great help to the spreading of the gospel.

I think it's wonderful that the teacher believes in the bible and knows all the things it offers for an individual.
I also still think that the teacher must help the student to learn and show him/her how to master many different subjects.
Teaching involves so many factors. A dedicated teacher will find a way to tie all the subjects he/she teaches to his belief in the bible's direction .

Splendid! And I quote William Herschel (English Asronomer)
" All human discoveries seem to be made only for the purpose of confirming more and more the TRUTH contained in the Holy Bible."

All words of wisdom are passed on through books only.A good teacher is one who can motivate his students to read what they need to become a more knowledgeable, learned and better person.Everyone knows what is right and what is wrong but implementation is what matters.A good teacher should ensure that his disciples tread the right path. For they say that if you have your parents, teacher and God himself standing in front of you...you should bow to your teacher first followed by your parents and God...:)

Thank you theonehush! I am also a teacher. I never really understood what it means to be a teacher until i became one. I thank the Lord for my teachers. It is not really easy being a teacher. Their performance outside the schools affects you. You will be glad when they are doing well and grieving if they are not growing to maturity. It is like their performance rating inside and outside is your own rating.

i'd have to agree with you on that one.. i also thank god for having teachers who made me feel like one of their many sons in class.. lol.. but then again there are these types of teachers that are really a pain in the a$$ if you know what i mean.. they really stick their noses to other peoples' business.. (i did not to offend you or other teachers out their.. i just had a few rough encounters with my past teachers..) but honestly almost all my teachers liked me except for a few ones who never really cared about anything except their crap then we werent really meshing together thats why they hated me so much.. but hey guess what eventhough how bad they hated me, i still made it to the upper half of my class eventhough they gave me low grades so what the heck i dont care.. i only care for my teachers who suppported me back in the day..

I believe that aside from teaching them about regular subjects.. it is also a must that we teach them about moral values and faith in God. As a teacher we should not assume that the student knows a lot of anything since what matters most is the sharing moment and time spent together in learning.

Yes, true because the Bible says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." There can be no real learning apart from God. All learning will not be learning at all.

I am a primary school teacher. When I teach in Church of England or Catholic schools I teach the children about their religion. In other schools I teach how to be polite and caring to other people. I teach all the subjects of the National Curriculum. I especially enjoy teaching reading and writing. Yes, the Bible is a great book to read and for students to know really well.

Hi,
Your topic is very interesting. You opened my inner thoughts into a lot of things that I have to teach. I am a teacher too. Honestly I never wanted to be a teacher when I was young. In fact I took BS Physical Therapy in the university. To make the story short, it's a calling that I teach. So I tried and ended up being accepted and enjoyed by the children. With your question, it is true the Bible answers them all but not all have the patience and determination to read and understand the lessons in it. I teach English the to second language speakers and I always integrate character building to make them better people and better citizens of their community and .. the world. Thanks for sharing a very beautiful letter.

Thank you for sharing your idea on this topic. Truly, good values should be inculcated in the mind of the students, but we must be sure not to teach our own standard of values. God has already given us the standard of what is right and wrong. They are written in the Holy Scripture (the Bible). If we will not follow a His standard, and we will only teach our own, then the tendency is for us to fail because what we know, what we have is but a filthy rag in God's eyes. Let us read the Bible and figure out why His WORD in the said book is the True standard.

Hello joseph_jedidiah you have got some cool stuff here at mylot, good one, apreciate it.Truely stated that an teacher can only teach an student by just showing him the source of the learning and not by making him learn himself.Good point to go through befor teaching any of the stdents, even i have some expertise in field of computers so naturally be teaching some computer stuffs to the students but with its study material around for their learning in it.Me to just like to disclose the source to the various learning materials, and let them find the solution for themselves, even would provide some additional guidance if required.Anyways it was nice to go through some good wording and thoughts.
Happy mylotting.

Checkmail, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. :-)
Surely, all of us will become teachers. Maybe not in the classroom. Perhaps when we become parents. If that day arrives, we need to teach our children well. First, the fear and love for God, then of the neighbors (all the people around us). If the world is like this, it is because those called to be teachers (parents, professional teachers)have failed ,not all, to teach by heart. Some can teach but dont know what to teach. So when we become teachers let us know what to teach to our children. However, let us first know it for ourselves. We cannot share what we do not have. And the best teacher is not experience. It is only a fraction. The best teacher is the way we live. What they will see in us, they will copy, if not all, then some. For a mango tree will not bear an apple. Thank to you people. God bless!

Hello Joseph.....!!
I Don't Think I would Teach Students any of the Subjects related to Pasts Facts. If I would get a Chance I would only Prefer to teach Students Subject related to Become a Perfect Human First!Yes Sounds Little Bit Different But Infact Today every Student should First Learn Why they were called as "Human".As Nowadays Childrens Don't know what Power Inside them for that First they need to Learn "Truth" Led Examples by many Great people one among the Best example was "Mahatma Gandhiji".Don't wanna Critises anyone but its True No one Follows those "Great Principles" to live a Peaceful and Happy Life .
The Teachers should First teach their Students the Points like "Truth", "Self Confidence","Politeness","Principles to Live a Successful and Happy Life".
So Everyone can become and pull out the Potential and Talent from Themselves and The Heaven Results comes out.So Love to Teach Students Subject "Principles of Success and Great Heaven Life" which even GOD Proud of it! ..!!
Happy Study Mylot Day.

Hi Sahilpadhiyar20,
Good Morning!
I will not argue with you on what you will teach. I will only ask if it is possible if a person will obtain perfection on this earth. What guideline or standard will a student follow for him to be a perfect Human? I hope to hear from you again.

Hi,
This discussion is really really interesting one and I couldn't help participating. I am Hindu by religion and I've read over a thousand of good books by now. But I now think they were totally unnecessary. I should have read ShrimadvagabatGita, which is our holy book. I think this is true for every person of every religion.
Teaching is a great profession, and to my consideration, the best opportunity a man can get in his entire life. A teacher need to be ideal to a student not only in studies but also as a human being, and that's the most important part of it. The most difficult task for a teacher is to lower his intellectual faculty to the level that of the student for the time being. A teacher totally void of ego is truly a successful teacher. In order to feel and understand a child's behavior and the best way to teach him is simply to infiltrate his mind. Think like him, be simple like he is, be a child yourself.
Being complicated was never a difficult job, but being simple like a child always was. It's truly a challenge.
God bless you all

Indeed, we have to meet the students in their level. Besides, the essense of teaching is understanding what is being taught. Students will not understand if we will use words that are alien to them. We must communicate in a manner that they will be able to understand. What we know should be communicated in a clear manner. What benefit it is to have all the degrees in the world if the knowledge which we have acquired could not be transferred to others because we are not reaching their level.
In our Holy Scripture, Our saviour and Lord Jesus Christ became a human just to saved the human race. The Scripture said that Jesus Christ, "Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." He was God but he became a human being to save us. In John 1:14 the Scripture said " He became flesh and made His dwelling among us."
As for us, Jesus Christ is the best example of humility, because though He is the Son of God, He came to this fallen earth to save the people. His offer of salvation was sufficient for all but is effective only to those who will believe in Him.
God Bless You getsbiswas2000!

hi...
Not everything that a person knew is based on what is taught in school or what are those read in books. There are far more important lessons to be learned outside the four corners of the classroom and apart from the usual algebra, geometry, and the like.
The Bible is liken to a one stop shop where everything you need comes in handy. Whether you need happy thoughts to share, or lines to boost your spirit or when you need an enlightening in considering options-- open the Bible, it helps!

Hello prettychai, your name seems to sound what David said in Psalms. " I am fearfully and wonderfully created." Yes, everyone is pretty and unique.
You are right. So i qoute what President Thomas Jefferson said, " I have always said and always will say that the studious perusal of the Sacred Volume of the Bible will make better citizens, better fathers, better husband... the Bible makes the best people in the world."
US President Theodore Roosevelt said... "To every man who faces life with real desire to do his part in everything , I appeal for a study of the Bible. No educated man can afford to be ignorant of the Bible."
FRENCH EMPEROR Napoleon Bonaparte said... " The Bible is no mere book, but a Living Creature, with a power that conquers all that oppose it."
Charles Dickens said, "IT IS THE BEST BOOK THAT EVER WAS OR EVER WILL BE IN THE WORLD!"
There are other many ordinary people who became famous because of reading the BOOK OF GOD. Indeed, what other book should we study other than this book which teaches us of what we are, who we are, who created us, why we were created and who created us.

Hello Jos, Nice topic you have started.
If I would be a teacher I would teach the students everything that I can teach them or I am allowed to!! Say for example Philosophy, History, not those subjects. But I will try to teach them how to be a good learner!! As it's very important to learn it. The method for teaching them will have routine life examples linked to every thing, to the topic I am teaching. I mean I try to put the live examples to my teaching topic.

Honestly, when I was in highschool and even in college, i was not interested in history. However, when i started studying in bible college, i begin to appreciate history because you will be able to connect how Christianity came to Philippines and to other countries. Questions about dark ages was very much connected to the Christian being tortured and burned at stake during the Roman Emperor Nero. Did you know that it was Emperor Nero who had caused the beheading of Apostle Paul?

If I am a teacher,I will teach my students to become a discipline person. With this attitude, they can meet the following:
They will be a good son/daughter because they will obey and respect their parents sincerely.
They will become a good student because they will obey their teachers for they are guide and nourish good teachings applicable to students life. All the tools they need to become a well rounded person will be guided by the teachers.
They will become a good friend to others because they give respect, confidence, sympathy, love and value for others .
They will care for others because they will show sincerity, generosity and empathy.
All these virtues is in the Bible. But, I believe that when a person have Discipline in himself, he will know where to apply his molded characteristics in a given situation in his life. All these virtues will take effect in him. This will never mislead a person life. IT will correct his life to a more meaningful one. His relationships with God, family and environment.
