How Do You Earn Stars and What are They For

i have seen many people with these. i want to know what they are really for, i read someone say its to increase your earnings. can someone really let me know..

Hi pascal, once you reach a certain number of posts , I have forgotten whether it is 100 or 200, your stars start showing
- it actually denotes your popularity with the members. But dont go by it, mine never changes no matter what. It has remained stagnant now for almost a year. You are supposed to rate the discussion posted by members and that adds up and you have your ranking star...I dont really bother too much with it, just enjoy being here - all the best

Stars are reputation. Try to post some more discussion, make it interesting and detailed. Respond more to discussions. You will get one eventually. Good luck.

Are the stars sort of like stars on eBay? You know where you get 10 positive reviews and you get a yellow star and then there are different levels where you reach different stars? Meaning do you know how many comments you need to make to get a star or are the stars assigned by some other means? Does anyone know if the stars really increase your earnings and if so how?
