Snow or sun?

Which one do you prefer: hot or cold? Snow or sun? I personally prefer sun, because I don't like to stay outside for long time when it's cold. Of course it doesn't mean that I don't like winter, I enjoy having fun in the snow too, skiing and sledging and making snowmen, but sun is the thing that I like more. When it's summer and it's sunny some magical power just tears me outside the house to go and enjoy sun and hot weather. So, which one is more suitable for you? Sun or snow?

personally I love sun and snow lol, I could never live in a climate where you did not get any snow. But likewise I love it when the temperature climbs as you don't have to worry about the weather and being cold, but once the snow comes I love the snow just as much as the sun, sledging building igloo's and snowmen fantastic time of year.

I couldn't imagine life without snow too. Summer/fall 365 days a year would be to boring, winter is a perfect alternation. Thanks for answering!;)

I suppose if I had children I'd be more into the snow as they have so much fun in it don't they? There are some nasty kids in Mum's area though that throw snowballs at old people (my Dad being one of them). Why he hasn't rung the police about them I do not know. They even chuck snowballs at his window because they know he's in the front room in the mornings. Toe-rags!

Yea, children like to have fun in the snow. But some of them just can't have fun without disturbing or harming anyone.

I like both I suppose...in small doses! I would love the perfect climate whereby it's about 23 degrees C (sunny with no clouds) during the day and about 10 degrees C (raining) during the night and I'd be quite happy to put up with this every day of the year. Sadly, I don't think such a climate exists anywhere in the world. I love the sun but don't like being uncomfortably hot. I absolutely love blue sky - even in the winter - as that cheers me up more than anything. As for snow, I love watching it coming down, there's something magical about it...and kids love it of course, but going out in it? No chance! Only if it's absolutely necessary.

I enjoy blue sky as much as you do. It makes me calm, makes me feel that everything is going fine and will be going fine, has a positive effect on my mood. I also agree, that killing hot is not good, I like temperature that allows me to stay outside without harm to my health. For me it's perfect when I can sunbathe and it's warm enough to go swimming. I also like to watch snow falling down, it gives such a mystical, kind of fairy-tale feeling. Thanks for sharing!;)

Umm, we have some -8C right now, but some week ago we had like -20 -25 degrees, so it was pretty frosty, I wasn't able to hang around for long time. It has been long time since a winter like that was around. About half of the winter has passed now, you'll have to wait for another half until spring, so take care and hold on until then!;)

You are very welcome my friend. This cold weather snap we are having is slowly losing its appeal, despite the lovely blue sky during the day. Last night it got down to around -12 degrees C, the coldest night I have experienced since moving further north in 2005. Can't wait until Spring!

Although there are certain things that I like about both the snow and the sun, I think that if I had to choose my favorite, it would be the sun. The reason for this is that I have never lived in a really cold environment and I am just more accustomed to the sun. Besides that, I love swimming and have been an avid swimmer since I was a child. I live for the summer because there is no shortage of pools to visit. Also, I have some arthritis and it does bother me when it is cold outside.

I like to swim too. We usually catch up with friends, take a little something to eat&drink with us and drive to the lake or river. We sunbathe there and swim, do stunt jumps and stuff. I feel sorry for your arthritis, I think it can be really annoying. I've heard that cold and humidity are bad for the bones. Thanks for sharing!:)

Warm air is good, I also like spring and summer. Sunny weather charges us with positive emotions and lifts our energy levels. And I agree, it's good suntan on the beach in summer! Thanks for responding!:)

Ah, it looks like your summer is more like our autumn. I generally don't like autumn, because it rains a lot and mud and dirt is everywhere, it's kind of sad time of the year. But sometimes there are incredibly beautiful autumn days, when shining sun and golden leaves on the trees make up a perfect view. Thanks for your answer!;)

I know what you mean about winter making us lazy. It certainly does that in my case, can't get motivated at all. Having said that, if it's too hot it has the same effect on me. Like I said in my initial discussion, warm (as opposed to hot) temperatures would be ideal for me...but it's never gonna happen in these parts, unfortunately.

Hi biomechanoid, Well, I am a sun person really. I absolutely love the sun and the heat. I love love love the beach. Still, I look forward to all the changing seasons as well. I love the crisp autumn air and the changing of the leaves. I also love winter altho I really hate the bitter cold. I do love the snow and the coziness of it. And by the time spring comes around I think we all are tired of the winter and look forward to the summer. I live in New England and I love it. I love the unpredictability of the forecast. I love the storms...pretty much all of it other than the painful bitter cold. Oh and the ice....I don't like the ice storms.

I agree with you. It's good when there are four seasons throughout the year, it would be boring if there was only two of them, or if it was summer or winter all year long. I like every season in it's own way. Thanks for answering!:)

I like the Sun better because when its summer season here you get a lot of sun. There is more sunlight during the day time and you can do a lot more things in the day. I just like to watch the snow fall down but I don't really enjoy the cold chilly weather.

Yes, I like warm and dry weather more than cold one too. It doesn't mean that I can't stand the cold weather at all, it's just not so comfortable for me to stay outside for long time, when it's cold. Thanks for answering!;)

I am sure you would like to have a part of winter fun. One more cool thing is to go to sauna and then jump into snow with no clothes on in winter. I don't know if you know what sauna is, so I'll explain a little bit. It's a popular way to relax here in Estonia and almost everywhere around Europe. Sauna is a small room. Inside the room there is a stove with rocks on it. When water is thrown at the rocks, it vaporizes and makes the air hot inside the room. It's very relaxing to cook yourself like that inside the sauna and then come out and jump into cold water or snow. It's very healthy. It's also good for the skin, as there is one more procedure you can do inside sauna: you take bunch of small birch branches and hit yourself with them. It is a kind of massage or something, giving you awesome feeling. Hope you have some kind of idea, about what sauna is (in case you didn't know it yet).

Boss if it's choice only then I will say Sun but not that much HOT. Cold sun. just the same as it is currently here in India, Gujarat. 19°C, Sunny morning. But as we all know the BALANCE must be maintained ever where, as specially in the Nature. So we must welcome HOT and Cold both. But personally I like the Sunny-Snow.....
• Estonia

Yeah, you're right, there must be balance around us, otherwise things would mess up pretty hard. Thanks for responding!;)

Yes you are true that sunny weather is the one which is more suitable to me than snowy weather.Yes it is true ,skiing and other stffs are cool ,but you can't keep them doing all day, there is a limit too,but there is nosuch limit in summer, whatever you want you can do ,whereever you want toroam ,roam, anythin you want to eat just eat it.There are so many positives in summer,I can't tell you.

Summer is definitely better, in case you want to spend the whole day outside. In winter this would be more problematic, as you lose lots of heat while being outside. But nevertheless both the winter and summer activities have their pros and cons. Thanks for responding!;)

I think I kinda know what you think. I was missing snow too couple years ago, because we had two terrible winters in a row with only couple of snowy weeks, rest of the time it was raining and stuff. It was frustrating. But luckily, we do have perfect winter at the moment - there's plenty of snow and a strong frost. Thanks for your answer!;)

Well I hate the cold but I'm not a big fan of sunshine either. I like warm, grey, and rainy weather the best. But I would certainly pick sun over snow. I can stand a good amount of heat pretty comfortably but I can't stand the cold. I think anything under 50 degrees is cold. I don't see snow that often, but I wouldn't miss it horribly if I never saw it.
• Estonia
7 Jan 10
Ah, I see. Sometimes I like that gray, rainy weather too. But if it lasts for long time, it brings my mood down, so I can't tolerate it for a long time. I think I am kind of a person who couldn't live without snow, without winter. It would be just too weird. But that's me:D Thanks for responding!;)

Without any hesitation, sun. And that's not just because I am finding myself with snow up to my ears right about how. Its just snow means dreary weather that really causes me to be unable to focus. Snow can be good to a certain extent but that extent has been reached with me. I am ready for a nice sunny day. The day that makes me want to bounce out of bed and tackle the day. Now, I want to stay in bed and give the day a rude gesture.

Same with me: for me it's easier to get up when it's sunny. Even if I have to go to school and my mood is down, it's easier to wake up when the morning sun is shining through my window. Thanks for answer!;)
