Hi! My infant son has reflux. I was just wondering what tips and advise you have for dealing with this condition. He is currently on Zantac and we are thickening his formula with cereal. His bed is also elevated. He seems to have good and bad days. Any advice would be appreciated.

I heard that a cure for acid reflux was apple cider vinegar. It is sold in capsules as well as liquid. Not sure about infants but perhaps if this is still a problem when he is a little older. Maybe you could try to feed him a little slower, I know that babies sometimes just drink their bottles too fast and get too much air making them throw some of it up. Also try not to move him too much for the first 15 min after feeding.

Oh, how I do feel for you. My youngest with threw this. The consitant vomiting was the worse for us. She was on the Zantac, special formulas, as well as adding the cereal. The best thing that honestly helped her was, keeping her sitting up 30 minutes to an hour after feeding her. We went threw all the formulas to try to figure out which was best for her, we used Enfamil A.R during the first 6 months and then we went to the Enfamil Gentlease. It seemed the rice cereal was giving her gas after she turned 6 months old.. She's 2 today and still has issues with acid reflux and gastritis. I do wish you best of luck, it's hard to make it threw the first few months, but after a while it does get better.

It's been 28 years since my oldest son was born, but he was a reflex regurgutator..if it went down it came back up, with such force you didn't want to be within a couple of feet of him. The doctors put him on goats milk because it is easily digested by infants, we added cereal to his formula as you are too. The biggest thing that helped was to sit him in his car seat or stationery walker for at least 30 minutes after he was fed. He did outgrow the condition..thank heavens..before he was six months old. He never took Zantac but like I said it was a long time ago, I would keep him upright after feeding as long as you could.

I have heard from my sister-in-law, who works for a chiropractor, that giving children a spinal adjustment can do wonders for reflux. I would check into it with a local chiropractor and see if they can help. I know that as an adult, I see mine regularly and it always helps me with any medical issues I am having, especially when my sinuses are acting up. Hope this helps.
